We’ve got a brand-new hockey season coming up, which also means brand-new Bauer Mystery Minis hockey sticks. This year’s lineup looks pretty exciting across the board, and Bauer has also introduced a new element: Mystery Minis hockey balls. This one’s for all the collectors out there.

Please remember that these novelty collector items are meant for collecting and light carpet play; they are not designed for any actual hockey maneuvers or aggressive play.

Mystery Minis (both hockey sticks and hockey balls) are intended for athletes and fans ages 6 and up.

Purchasing more mystery packs does not necessarily increase your chances of getting rarer picks, and the odds for different balls and sticks/balls vary. If it were up to us at The Hockey Shop, we’d try to get you different Mystery Minis sticks/balls each time! Unfortunately, we’re about as clueless as you are when guessing what stick/ball is inside each pack, and we cannot help you find certain variations of each item. We can definitely make guesses along with you, though!

As with all Mystery Minis sticks, what’s inside the bag stays a mystery. No peeking, no in-person inspection, even for us at the Shop. But we do have names and photos to work with, so let’s dig in together.

Like last year, the 2026 lineup includes 8 hockey sticks, all with unique colourways… and some even go above and beyond that. You could divide them into different categories.

Bauer PULSE 2 White Variation: This stick is pretty reminiscent of the PULSE 2’s white variation, which came out super recently. It keeps the white base with purple and silver highlights.

Supreme FUSE: As implied, this mini stick is a replica of the Supreme FUSE stick, complete with the same black base and silver and teal accents.

Vapor Flylite Limited Edition: You might have a hard time finding a stick called “Flylite Limited Edition” on a stick rack, but this stick takes clear cues from the Flylite Glacier variation. The main difference is that the colour base and accents appear to be swapped, with cool blue being the main colourway while purple is reserved for the accents. Both are quite shiny, regardless.

Bauer PULSE “Graffiti”: Unless you’ve been paying very close attention to Bauer stick releases, you may have very well missed the release of the PULSE “Graffiti” limited edition stick. Yes, a limited edition of… a limited edition stick. Well, now’s your second chance—you can pull one of these uber exclusive sticks from a Mystery Minis bag as well. The colourway itself is different (this one is green and yellow, while the real one is black, purple, and red), but the main patterns and designs are still the same.

ADV ONE: With its black base and green and grey accents, this stick looks very similar to a lot of other “ADV” limited edition sticks we’ve seen over the years, like the Supreme ADV, Nexus ADV, and the Sling stick. I don’t quite remember an “ADV ONE” stick specifically, but who knows…

Now this is where things start to get interesting. These ones aren’t based on any actual stick, like the last ones. Rather, this is where Bauer decided to take a bit of a leap with not just colours, but effects, which we will see in a moment.

Translucent: I had to double-take on this one—with a black base, and what appear to be silver and dark blue accents, this stick doesn’t really appear “translucent” at all, at least at first glance. When I saw an image of the stick for the first time, I was a bit skeptical, but you can kind of see in the image that it is slightly see-through (photos are unedited; all I did was add a background and text).

EDIT: Okay, before I get called a liar, I did get a chance to see this stick in person to see where the "translucent" effect is. It's actually less in the blade, but more in the shaft. If you are lucky enough to pull a Translucent Mystery Minis stick from the box, the translucent effects are visible in the blue portions, and a little bit in the silver along the shaft.

Glow in the Dark - Light and Dark: These are NOT two different sticks (I made that mistake too). The Glow in the Dark variant has a primarily white base with orange accents... when it's light out. In the dark, the dotted patterns you see on the shaft glow, appearing something like the darker colour on the bottom.

Rainbow Chrome: It doesn’t look very “rainbow” from just the photos, but the chrome finish is there, complete with green lettering and what looks like a mirror-like shine. The “rainbow” could either be from the mirror (reflecting colours), or maybe it has a more iridescent sheen in person?

EDIT: I did get my answer to this question. In the photo, it looks primarily silver and green, but in person, it is very iridescent along the shaft. They don't call it "Rainbow Chrome" for nothing.

This is Bauer’s first series of Mystery Minis balls, and the designs do not disappoint. Like the sticks, the balls also have their own themes. All of them include the Bauer logo at the centre, with some variation depending on the colourway and theme.

When you buy a pack of Mystery Minis balls, there will be three balls inside, one of each of the three sets, which means you'll end up with some great variety, no matter the pack you pick up.

By “colour drip,” they don’t just mean that the colours are stylish and cool to look at (although they certainly are). These balls are characterized by the way they appear to “drip” down the sides, like liquid. The designs go the extra mile to even show different viscosities, depending on the liquid they’re emulating. A few examples include the Ice Cream drip, which looks slow and thick like syrup; the ADV ONE drip looks stickier, like slime; and the Iceman drip, which is sharp, like icicles.

Bauer wanted to start off a bit simple with which cities to incorporate into the ball designs. As a nod to other firsts, the Mystery Minis city-inspired balls come in colours commemorating the Original Six NHL hockey teams. The city-inspired balls’ designs overall are very simple but consistent, with stripes appearing in the same designs as the teams’ original colourways.

Available Colours: Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, Boston, Montreal, New York

These balls take a more minimal approach than the previous two, but they’re still pretty cool, especially if you prefer that style. These colourways are mostly solids, with a few symbol variations (like on the PULSE and chrome colours), Bauer hockey sticks and stick variations. Of this section in the lineup, Chrome stands out as a little different, both in design and the fact that it’s not labelled as any specific hockey stick; rather, it’s seems to be a reference to the chrome colourway seen on many high-end hockey sticks.

Though they may not be as fancy as the others in the catalogue, the colours still pop, especially when rolling along the carpet.

Of course, we can’t leave the goalies out. Goalies have three possible designs to pull, all completely unique from the paddle through the shaft.

The Supreme FUSE variation looks very similar to its namesake, though there are a couple of minor differences. Since the Mystery Minis version doesn’t have a lot of the specialized geometry of the real thing, some of the graphics (particularly along the paddle) are slightly off. But the design is still very clean and cohesive.

This one looks to have a very retro-focused design, combining two things into one stick: the old Reactor stick family and the limited edition “Otter” Hyperlite 2 goalie stick. “Otter” is a reference to Jake Oettinger, NHL goalie for the Dallas Stars, and the green highlights in the design also reflect this. The Reactor “Otter” stick might be the only stick this year that is tied to a hockey player.

Bauer has elected to make their third goalie Mystery Minis stick based on their ADV series. The finished design has a black base with silver and green accents (could be iridescent too? Guess we’ll see!). It’s pretty interesting seeing this particular design on a goalie stick, since Bauer’s ADV series has historically been player-focused. The presence of this Mystery Minis goalie stick could also hint at something else as well, but we’ll have to wait a bit to see.

Sure, the Mystery Minis have neat designs, but what’s the purpose? These are novelty items, what can they do for us?

It’s a fair question, and the answer is more than you might think. Beyond looking good on a display shelf, there are a good number of things Mystery Minis can provide, whether you’re buying for yourself or someone else.

Half the fun is playing with it, but the other half is the unboxing—especially when you get to watch someone else do it. Maybe your knees can’t handle carpet hockey anymore, or you don’t have the space to display them. Or maybe you’re a bit apprehensive about the potentially addictive aspect of mystery box collecting.

You can still gift the mystery bag to a friend or a family member and watch them open it. Gifting mystery grab bags like Mystery Minis is a great way to enjoy some of the hobby without falling down that collecting rabbit hole yourself.

On the other side of the spectrum are people who do enjoy collecting things, or may have already been collecting Mystery Minis sticks from previous years. This lineup looks pretty awesome across the board, and there’s the debut of Mystery Minis balls too. Whether you yourself love the joy of collecting, or you have a friend who does, 2026 looks like a major year for the Mystery Minis lineup.

This should be the most obvious one—but the main purpose of mini sticks has always been to bring the game of hockey right into your living room. I remember growing up with carpet hockey and how much fun it was with little plastic sticks and foldable nets. That’s fun by itself, especially for kids, and the more immersive the experience, the more exciting the game will be for them.

A new season means a new lineup of Bauer’s Mystery Minis series, and they certainly went all out with these, especially with the new release of Mystery Minis balls. This might actually be the most complete series of mini sticks from them yet. Maybe we’ll see Mystery Minis nets in the future too.

For now, though, collectors will have more than enough to chase in 2026.
