Graphics

Like many high-end sticks of its time, the Trigger 10 sports an iridescent sheen along the coloured portion that changes colour depending on how the light hits it. Most of the stick’s colour is in the base, which displays the carbon weave in black and grey. The splashes of colour are predominantly in the centre, with accents near the bottom, and fade with a distinct, although subtle, splatter pattern.

The Trigger 10 Pro comes in two main colour variants: chrome and purple. The blue/teal version indicates the Top Shaft variant, which has a slightly different shape at the top of the stick.

Ultralow Kick Point and Stick Geometry

The Trigger 10’s Ultralow kick point builds on the conventional low kick for an even quicker release than before. The difference is a sharper rib in the lower half of the shaft near the hosel, which reinforces that area and enhances the snap that low kick sticks are known for. This improved flex profile is also more compact, allowing for quicker loading and more consistent shots and passes.

Speaking of the stick’s shape, you may note that it feels somewhat different to grasp when you first pick it up. If the stick is blue, you’re likely looking at the Top Shaft variant. As implied, the top shaft of this stick has been modified with an asymmetrical octagonal shape, very similar to the Vizion stick. This shaft shape is ideal for players who want extra strength and forearm power in their top hand without increasing wrist strain.

The Trigger 10 also comes with a standard shaft version, categorized by either purple or chrome graphics. The stick uses CCM’s Ergonomic EC geometry, which combines their classic ergonomic shape found on older Trigger models with their “C” contoured geometry at the mid-section. The build creates a comfortable place for your hand to hold while simultaneously enhancing shot power.

Shaft

The primary tech used in the shaft is Nanolite Shield Carbon Layering. It may sound complicated, but it really isn’t—it refers to the strategic way that carbon is layered in the stick, making for a stick that’s both remarkably strong and light.

As they do in most of their top-end sticks, CCM integrated SIGMA ST2X spread tow material in the construction (both the shaft and blade) for a lighter and more consistent laminate. Paired with Nanolite Shield, it helps keep the stick light without sacrificing power.

Running a hand along the shaft, you’ll notice CCM’s Trigger Microfeel grip. This curved, raised grip runs primarily along the underside of the shaft to enhance stick feel, and ends around where that sharp rib in the taper starts.

Blade

Debuting in the Trigger 10 is the UL1, or Ultralight blade. It’s been redesigned with a better balance point, which translates to more puck control and a quicker release. As the name suggests, it’s much lighter too.

Above the blade is the taper, which uses Skeleton+ technology, a mainstay in CCM’s top hockey sticks for years. This tech places a silicon-tip spear in the hosel to strengthen the stick and enhance reliability.

Final Thoughts - Is This Stick Right for You?

Of course, it’s a Ribcor, which means it’s part of CCM’s low kick stick family. That means it’s designed primarily for players who like to get their shots off fast, regardless of power. Additionally, athletes who like to puck handle in close quarters, such as behind the net, deking themselves out of the corner, or getting up close and personal to the goalie will benefit greatly from the Trigger 10’s features.

That said, the Ribcor Trigger series is a popular stick family for good reason. If you’ve been playing a while and know you like low kick sticks, or Ribcor specifically, then this one is worth considering if you’re looking to take your game to the next level. Taking from the previous VIZION stick, the Trigger 10’s kick point also isn’t just low, but an Ultralow kick point, making that release quicker than ever.

This stick is very similar to the VIZION stick. If you were a fan of the VIZION, or missed out on it, the Trigger 10 offers a second chance. The nice thing about the Trigger 10 as well is that it covers two shaft variations, that being standard and top shaft (blue colour). The VIZION only came with the top shaft variation, so if you wanted a VIZION but weren’t a huge fan of the top shaft, then you do have additional options with the Trigger 10.
