Bauer Supreme TotalONE NXG LE & One.5 Vintage Goal Sticks
It is safe to say the company providing the most innovation is doing the exact same for their goalies, and Bauer displays this innovation with their TotalONE NXG goal stick. After being on the market for over a year, we’ve seen great success in not only sales of the NXG, but customer reviews in the stick’s performance—a simple testament to Bauer’s ability to combine innovation with consistency and durability. To keep you wanting more, Bauer has designed the TotalONE NXG with a vintage graphic first seen in the 2012 Winter Classic on their player sticks.
One-of-a-kind Paddle Design
Bauer describes the TotalONE NXG as their “elite-level composite stick designed specifically for butterfly goalies,” and they achieve this through the stick’s unique paddle design. Bauer uses an ergonomic geometric design on the paddle of the NXG that creates a ‘lip’, if you will, hanging over the top of the paddle. This design allows the goalie to have control of any bouncing puck, while in the paddle-down position, and avoid any awkward bounces off the edge of the paddle. This ergonomic design also creates a flat surface on the front of the paddle, which allows for far more predictable rebounds off of the paddle.
Bauer uses an air channel construction throughout the paddle to reduce the overall weight of the stick, and to improve vibration dampening. Alongside this innovative construction, Bauer aids longevity of the stick by wrapping the exterior of the paddle with their trademarked INNEGRA Fiber carbon.
Maximum Control
The shaft of the TotalONE NXG is designed using double concave geometry, to provide better feel. Concaving the shaft slightly thins out the paddle width—without losing structural support—to make the stick easier to hold. Additional to the concave geometry of the shaft, Bauer puts GRIPTAC at the shoulder of the paddle for a goaltender’s fingers to lay over. This control zone also keeps the stick stable while deflecting pucks away, by keeping the stick firm on the ice.
Rebound control is further increased through the blade of the TotalONE NXG. The blade has optimized stiffness to better direct the puck off of the blade and to the corners. This stiffness is provided through the INNEGRA fiber and carbon construction on the exterior of the blade, but the internals of the blade provide a great contrast. The internals of the blade is filled with low-density foam to increase the feel for the puck; just like a player, it helps a lot for a goaltender to have a good feel for the puck when playing it.
The One.5
If you’re looking for the vintage look featured on the TotalONE NXG, but don’t want to spend that much— or don’t need a pro level stick—look no further than its counterpart, the One.5. The Bauer One.5 composite goal stick provides the same concepts as the NXG, but at a lower price level. Using a reinforced polyurethane core and a fiberglass reinforced outer wrap, the structure of the One.5’s paddle is one to last. Overall feel is similar to the NXG, as it also features a low-density foam injection in the blade for enhanced puck playing.
Yet again, more cool products to come from Bauer in the form of their TotalONE NXG and One.5 Vintage sticks. For those of you looking for great control from your stick, and great style, then these two sticks are for you. Available in three NHL designs and a standard White / Black for a neutral colour scheme, there is a design that suits anyone’s style.
