The Winnwell GX6 Street Hockey Goalie Leg Pads are built for ball and street hockey, not for ice. They are the pads for a driveway, gym or road goalie who is facing real shots and wants proper leg coverage without the weight of an ice set.
The cover is a reinforced nylon, which holds up to pavement and the scuffing that comes with sliding on concrete far better than plain fabric. Inside, lightweight foam does the blocking. Deep leg channels run down the face of the pad so the leg sits into it rather than on top of it. That keeps the pad square to the shooter and stops it rolling when you drop. Quick-release buckles let a goalie strap in and out fast, which matters when the pads get handed to whoever is in net next.
Protection is set for recreational play, so treat these as street gear rather than a substitute for ice pads. For ball and street hockey they cover the leg and knee well and still let a goalie move.
Use: Ball and street hockey
Cover: Reinforced nylon
Padding: Lightweight foam
Leg channel: Deep
Straps: Quick-release buckles
Colour: Black
Sizes: 24, 28, 30, 32
Pads are sized by length, and the junior, intermediate and senior listings carry sizes 24, 28, 30 and 32. Measure from the centre of the knee down to the middle of the ankle, then add the rise you want above the knee. If a goalie falls between two sizes, the shorter pad moves better and the longer pad covers more.
