The Winnwell Athena Pro is a ringette glove, made for ringette rather than adapted from hockey. It sits above the standard Athena in the line. Ringette players wear stick contact across the back of the hand and the wrist in a way hockey players do not, so a ringette-specific glove is shaped for where the hits actually land.
Expect an anatomical shape that sits close to the hand, segmented fingers so the hand can close around the stick, and a cuff that lets the wrist roll instead of locking it. Padding is concentrated over the backhand, fingers and thumb. The point of a ringette glove is protection in those spots without the bulk that costs you stick feel.
Junior sizes are 11" and 12". Senior sizes are 13" and 14". Both come in black or white. Glove size is measured from the base of your fingers to the end of your elbow, so measure rather than carrying over the size from a hockey glove you already own.
Best for committed ringette players who want a dedicated glove, and for families replacing a worn-out pair partway through a season.
Sport: Ringette
Divisions: Junior and senior
Colours: Black or white
Sizes: Junior 11", 12"; senior 13", 14"
Ringette glove size is measured in inches from the base of your fingers to the end of your elbow. Junior runs 11" and 12" here, senior runs 13" and 14". If you land between two sizes, go up — the extra room is easier to live with than a tight cuff, and it leaves a bit of growth for a younger player.
