Intro & New Features

Entering the scene in 2024 is Warrior’s update to the Ritual series, the Warrior M3 Intermediate Goalie Stick. The M3 goal stick offers much of the same tech as the higher-end goal sticks in the series at a more affordable price point. This includes SlideGrip technology, a HiFused construction, and an Impact Fiber layer.

Shaft Construction

The shaft continues to include an Impact Fibre layer to increase durability. The use of a HiFused construction gives the stick its ultra-lightweight feel and balance. The stick features Warrior’s own Minimus Carbon material and construction. Warrior has gradually been gaining popularity for producing particularly durable sticks, and a big contributing factor to that success has been from their Minimus Carbon technology.

Paddle Construction

The M3 paddle has an innovative, geometric design to enhance the energy load from the paddle through to the low kick point of the stick. Ritual M-series sticks are renowned for their balance and playability, and the M3 stick does not disappoint. The carbon fibre construction and material works with the geometry to enhance energy load into a low kick point and give you better control on shots and passes.

Blade Construction/Stiffness

Warrior’s Minimus Carbon material and construction are some of the toughest on the market. It was formulated originally for lacrosse sticks, and its use in hockey ensures durability in the blade at an affordable price point. The HiFused construction harmonizes well with the Minimus Carbon to give the stick a more balanced feel.

Graphics

The Warrior M3 keeps to that really clean matte finish with a few pattern adjustments. The colour on the paddle no longer stops abruptly at the top; the signature teal, green, and yellow hash pattern graphic has been extended upwards in spikes along the shaft. The pattern gradually blends into the matte colour on the paddle.

Grip

The stick features SureGrip technology at the top of the paddle for better hold and control with the stick. The soft gloss on the M3 paddle solidifies your grip, so you can ensure you have a strong hold on your stick while you play.

Blade Patterns, Paddle Lengths

The Warrior M3 Intermediate Goalie Stick is available in the color black. In both right and left hands with 23"- 24" paddle lengths, and a twist blade pattern.

Goalie Stick Sizing Information

Unlike other pieces of gear, Goalie Sticks are sized mostly to the goaltender’s preference and playing style rather than their height. The most important measurement, when purchasing a new goal stick, is the paddle height (the wide portion of the stick), which is usually taken from the heel of the stick to the shaft/paddle interface. The reason for the paddle height’s significance is because it sets up the goaltender’s depth in the ready stance and (if properly sized) positions the blocker in an optimal position.

Sizing Your Goalie Stick
To start analyzing the size of your goalie stick, put on your goalie skates to get an accurate height of where you will be in your stance. If you’re looking to be even more accurate, strap on your goalie pads and blocker as well. Once that is done, get comfortable in your natural stance (the one you’d be in during a majority of gameplay) and look for the following:
1. The entire blade of the stick is flush with the ground while being 1’ - 2’ in front of your feet
2. After getting your stick into the flush position, check that the inside edge of the blocker hand sits on the outside edge of the goal pad (this is while holding just above the paddle).

Goalie Stick Sizing Considerations
Goalie Stick sizing can be very subjective compared to other pieces of equipment. The reason for this is the ambiguity of each goaltenders ‘natural stance’, especially with younger goaltenders. It is rather common for children to use taller sticks in comparison to their height, as their stance depth isn’t usually as aggressive as a seasoned goalie.

The shaft length of a goalie stick is usually best left at its stock length, as it serves to counteract the weight of the blade and ideally place the center of gravity at the top of the paddle. The one exception to this rule is for advanced puck handlers, cutting the shaft will allow more power transfer when shooting as a result of being able to keep the blade flush to the ice while near the goaltender’s feet.
