The Warrior Alpha Surge S50 Leg Pads are new from Warrior along with the 2026 goalie line. These pads feature JenPro with slide plates, a single outer break, and a 4-point strapping system to keep the pads secure. With a wide variety of sizes and colors available, these leg pads are a great option for goalies.
External Material
Warrior uses the JenPro material on the outer construction of these leg pads. This durable material provides the glove with a reliable and solid outer build, and it helps keep the pads in shape for longer. JenPro is a trusted material and is found on nearly all of Warrior’s goalie equipment because of its reliability, appearance, and overall performance that it provides. The Surge S50 leg pads also feature slide plates, which are designed to increase slide distance, reduce physical fatigue, and reduce joint strain.
Internal Construction
These leg pads were designed with a two-piece core construction. This construction in goalie leg pads provides enhanced flexibility, a more natural boot movement, and easier five-hole closure, making them ideal for developing goalies and hybrid playing styles. The leg pads also feature a single layer of Hypercomp, designed to provide the structural rigidity goalies seek when looking for a stiff leg pad.
Pad Break
The Alpha Surge S50 leg pads are designed with a single outer break. A single outer break on goalie leg pads provides a balanced mix of flexibility below the knee, a straighter thigh rise for coverage, and improved structural durability compared to double-break designs.
Boot Angle
Designed for mobility, the boot’s 90-degree flex profile enables effortless skateability and fluid entry into the RVH, empowering goalies to stay reactive and anchored to the post in critical moments.
Knee Cradle
For better control, the pads use a combination of a completely updated leg channel system and a traditional-to-Warrior shape. The semi-built knee blocks returns from previous Ritual models, which is stiffer for more stability when landing and sliding. The knee cradle on the Alpha Surge S50 is also adjustable.
Leg Channel
While the leg channel may appear simple at a first glance, this was done intentionally. Warrior has pruned any unnecessary weight or materials that were not positively affecting performance. Paying strong attention to the knee, non-essential parts were scrapped in favour of a memory foam-adjacent pad also found in top-of-the-line knee pads. In addition to updates in the knee, an adjustable upper calf strap helping to deliver control can be found alongside another noteworthy innovation, a “hammock” style design has been used in place of a calf pillow integration. With six adjustable positions, goalies can create a fit that is truly personalized to them.
Strapping System
The Surge S50 leg pads are equipped with the Advanced Fastening System. Engineered with precision-built knee and calf blocks secured by rigid C-shape HyperComp brackets, this system elevates pad stability and slide efficiency. By minimizing shifting during butterfly transitions and locking in a consistent ice seal, it maximizes goaltender performance with every movement. These pads also include a 4-point velcro strapping system to keep the protection in place while making saves.

Deciding your Goalie Pads size is crucial for having total control while moving in the crease. Sizing your pads properly is the difference between getting that perfect seal on your butterfly, and feeling clunky or unprotected in the net. Below we have compiled some information to better assist you in deciding which size is right for you.
Floor-To-Knee Measurement
Your Floor-To-Knee measurement will give you a good indication as to what "Pad Size" you will need. This measurement can be matched up with the provided sizing chart above.
How to Measure your Floor-To-Knee
- 1. In your bare feet, place the soft measuring tape at the inside of the bottom of your foot.
2. Slightly bend your knee.
3. Run the soft measuring tape up your shin, to the middle of your knee.
4. Match your Floor-To-Knee measurement with the provided sizing chart
What to look for when trying on your new pads.
Once you have your new leg pads, you’ll need to make sure they fit you properly. To do so, you’ll need to put the pads on with your skates. There a couple things to do to check size, once you have the pads on:
1. Stand straight and bring your feet together. This will show you the overall height of the pad, while on. Your pads should not be taller than your hips. Ideally you want the top of your pad at the half-way point of your thighs. A pad fitted for a young growing goaltender can be a little taller, so a little above the half-way point is normal.
2. Next you want to get in your stance, keep your hands in a ready position, and drop to your butterfly. Without moving your legs to correct your butterfly, bring your heels together. This is where you assess your knee position. For a proper fit, you want the middle of your knee to sit directly on the center of the knee stack. If you’re looking for growing room, you want the middle of your knee to land roughly 1.5” below the center of the knee stack (1” for JR).
Not getting a complete seal while in your butterfly?
If you're having trouble getting a full seal in your new pads, it may be the way you’re strapping them up. Make sure your boot strap and top straps (above knee) are loosened up a bit. The reason you want these straps loose is because they have a direct effect on the rotation of the pad. Having a loose boot strap makes it easy for your foot and ankle to rotate as the pad moves. Same goes for the top straps, as you don't want them pulling down too hard on the thigh rise.
