Intro & New Features
New for 2025, is the all new VX1 Intermediate goalie catcher. The VX1 features many high-performance elements that make it a high-level catcher including a one-piece cuff, 50° break angle and a double T pocket design with a larger web area to maximize net coverage.
External Material
The VX1 catcher is made out of a durable leather featuring a sharp graphic. It features QuickSlide accents in high wear areas along with a nylon binding and backing. Vaughn uses a Hex Mesh inner lining and finger stalls for better breathability, comfort and quick drying. The interior of the finger stalls contain an internal grip rail helping goalies get a better grip on the glove allowing them to snap it shut quicker and with ease.
Break Angle
The VX1 Pro catcher uses a 50° palm break with easy flex. It uses a more defined breakpoint allowing for easier closure compared to previous models. This provides easier puck retention and quick flashes of the glove to make those big saves.
Pocket Design
The pocket is designed with a wide span and deep T-trap construction. The reinforced T-top allows for greater stability when making glove saves. It offers two separate sections for the puck to settle into, which can help improve control and prevent the puck from popping out upon impact. The fit of the catcher is designed to be game-ready right off the shelf.
Strapping
The quick adjust webbing wrist strap of the VX1 features added padding for better comfort while a neoprene material is used on the inner back hand allowing for good grip and breathability. The internals of the catcher features a inner hand strap for greater puck retention and control, while the velcro elastic strap sits over the back of the fingers controlling the tightness of the back piece.
Cuff Design
The VX1 uses a one-piece cuff and thumb closure to keep goalies protected while on the ice. The cuff features no bindingness and allows for easier puck tracking and retention.
Hand Protection
The hand is protected with a series of foams that are dispersed throughout the glove and still allows for an easy closure. The HD foam in the back over the fingers and finger tip deflecting rail has added HD foams to provide goalies with a catcher that is protective and will keep them secured from impacts while making glove saves.
Sizes & Colors
The Vaughn Velocity VX1 Intermediate Goalie Catcher is available in a regular catch hand in White, White/Black, White/Blue, Black, and White/Red. Additionally, this catcher has a full-right option for those who catch with their right hand that comes in White/Black.

Goalie Catcher Sizing
More times than not, the fit of your Goalie Catcher is often overlooked. This is likely the result of the limited size availability compared to other pieces of equipment, however a properly sized Catcher provides you the protection and stick control you trust.
Which Catcher Size is for you?
The first step to finding the correct Catcher size is to utilize the “heel-of-palm-to-tip-of-middle-finger” measurement. This measurement will generally send you to the appropriate size you need.
Analyzing the Catcher Fit
It is important to make sure the palm lines up properly within the catching glove, so that it can be closed without excessive force. New goalie gloves will be difficult to close initially, but through either a standard break-in process, or "baking" the catcher with our in-house convection skate ovens, they will soften over time.
*We do not recommend using any conventional in-home ovens, as the results have been very unpredictable in the past and could damage your Catcher.*
Next you want to ensure the adjustable wrist strap goes directly across the wrist bone, and has minimal to no interference with your chest protector. The goaltender should be able to swivel their wrist to accommodate a range of save selections without any restrictions from the chest protector.
Sizing for Growing Goaltenders
For growing goaltenders we recommend following the guidelines set above, rather than sizing up to accommodate growth. Oversized goalie gloves restrict control, especially for young developing goalies. As you climb the size ladder for Catchers, typically the glove requires more strength for pocket closure.
Which Hand Do I Need?
Figuring out which hand you need for your Catcher can be slightly confusing. Goalies generally refer to themselves as "REGULAR" or "FULL RIGHT". Below is the easiest way to simplify which hand you need.
- Goalie Catcher Hands Simplified
- Regular - Catcher worn on your Left Hand
- Full Right - Catcher worn on your Right Hand
