Intro & New Features
New for 2025 is the Vaughn VX1 goalie blocker. This blocker comes with many features that make it stand out as an elite option including an open cuff, HD foams to protect the fingers, and a mesh palm with ventilation for breathability.
External Material
The VX1 blocker features a bindingless, durable leather face with Quickslide accents in the high wear areas such as the nose and finger areas. The backhand uses a combination of nylon keeping it light and durable.
Internal Construction
The VX1 has a molded inner core foam board construction. This design keeps the blocker lightweight and mobile so goalies aren’t feeling restricted with a heavy blocker. The blocker board features thick HD foam with added rigidity to the blocker which provides more active rebounds.
Palm Material
When designing the palm, Vaughn wanted to create a palm that was comfortable and durable. This palm is designed for dexterity and stick control, and it has an index and small finger trigger design to provide more comfort and grip. The mesh palm also includes ventilation ports for added breathability.
Side Hand Protection
The side hand of the VX1 blocker utilizes a double layered side index finger protection. This design allows goalies to be protected from impacts to the hand, keeping them protected and secured.
Cuff
This blocker uses a short, floating cuff design which is designed to offer increased wrist mobility. The cuff is velcro adjustable in order to give goalies the option to adjust the fit as tight or loose as they want while offering good protection, as well as adjustments available through the wrist strap to provide a more custom fit.
Hand Protection
The hand is protected with a back hand cushion pad for comfort and protection. This design allows goalies to be protected on the ice, allowing them to absorb impacts without injury. The fingers are protected with HD foams to provide a high level of protection from impacts or pucks that may ride up the stick.
Colors & Blocker Hand
The Vaughn Velocity VX1 Intermediate Goalie Blocker is available in a regular blocker hand in White, White/Black, White/Blue, White/Red, and Black as color options. There is also a full-right blocker hand designed for those who use it on their left hand, and it is available in White/Black.

Goalie Blockers Sizing
More times than not, the fit of your Goalie Blocker is often overlooked. This is likely the result of the limited size availability compared to other pieces of equipment, however a properly sized Blocker provides you the protection and stick control you trust.
Which Blocker Size is for you?
The first step to finding the correct Blocker size is to utilize the “heel-of-palm-to-tip-of-middle-finger” measurement. This measurement will generally send you to the appropriate size you need.
Analyzing the Blocker Fit
It is important to ensure that the fingers tips lie close to the seam of the palm, or within 0.5” if the Blocker is for a young growing goaltender. Next you want to ensure the adjustable wrist strap goes directly across the wrist bone, and has minimal to no interference with your chest protector. The goaltender should be able to swivel their wrist to accommodate a range of save selections without any restrictions from the chest protector. You also want to ensure that the goalie can maintain control of their stick in addition to being able to maneuver the blocker when handling the puck.
Which Hand Do I Need?
Figuring out which hand you need for your Blocker can be slightly confusing. Goalies generally refer to themselves as "REGULAR" or "FULL RIGHT". Below is the easiest way to simplify which hand you need.
- Blocker Hands Simplified
- Regular - Blocker worn on your Right Hand
- Full Right - Blocker worn on your Left Hand
