The Vaughn VCS-3 Pro is a goalie compression shirt with a BNQ-certified neck guard built into the collar. It does two jobs at once. It gives you a smooth, seamless layer under the chest protector, and it covers your throat without a separate guard strapped over top. Goalies who dislike the feel of a floating collar guard tend to switch to a shirt like this and stay there.
The body is a 4-way stretch compression fit cut from moisture-wicking fabric, so it sits close and moves with you instead of bunching under the chest and arm unit. A perforated mesh back panel lets heat out through the part of the shirt the chest protector covers most. The blend is 75% nylon and 25% lycra, and it is machine-washable.
The collar
The neck guard is integrated into the collar and closes with hook-and-loop fastening, so you set the tension once and leave it there. It is BNQ certified, which is the standard Canadian associations look for on neck protection. Check your own league's rules if you are unsure what they accept.
Compression layers are meant to be snug. If you are between sizes and want a little more room through the chest, take the larger one.
