The Vaughn ION Youth Goalie Blocker is the highest-end model of blockers released by Vaughn as part of their 2026 product launches. Designed with a HD Foam board that is angled towards the top, a high-quality palm material, and a huge selection of protection in the hand/finger areas, this blocker prioritizes comfort and safety for goalies.
External Material
Vaughn uses the JenPro material on the outer construction of this blocker. This durable material provides the glove with a reliable and solid outer build, and it helps keep the blocker in shape for longer. JenPro is a trusted material and is found on nearly all of Vaughn’s goalie equipment because of its reliability, appearance, and overall performance that it provides.
Internal Construction
The HD foam found on the inside of the blocking board offers reliable protection, pop on rebounds, and is incredibly lightweight. The same HD foam is established over the fingers to protect them as well. The blocking board on this blocker is also angled at the top to help in deflecting rebounds out of harm's way.
Palm Material
The palm is made of a high-quality VX Suede palm design. It is outfitted with a cushion padding to minimize vibrations when impact hits the stick, while enhancing overall feel. The palm is designed to provide a solid level of protection from impacts, while also wicking away moisture and providing a strong grip on the stick.
Side Hand Protection
To keep the side of the hand protected, this blocker features a side finger protection. The finger protection features inserted foams that keep the blocker durable and the hand protected. The blocker also includes a side shield with HD foam for stability and protection, and a side index floating pad.
Cuff Design
The ION Youth blocker is designed with a flex cuff design. This design improves wrist mobility and allows for better stick control during saves and puck play. It also has seamless integration, preventing interference between the back of the blocker and the chest protector arm floaters, which often gets caught on traditional cuffs.
Finger & Hand Protection
Vaughn designed this blocker to ensure complete safety and protection for young goaltenders. This blocker is equipped with an index finger side guard with full finger protection. This construction features added HD foams into the finger area to provide protection and security. There is also an air cushioned backhand shock pad to help absorb and distribute impact force away from the hand, preventing injuries.
Strapping
The blocker is equipped with a velcro wrist adjustable strap. The strap allows the goalie to achieve a fit that is custom and tailored to their needs. The nylon strap allows for the tension to be tightened or loosened based on personal preference, keeping the blocker in place.
Sizing & Colors
The Vaughn ION Youth Goalie Blocker comes in White/Black color. It is also offered in full-right, which is designed for those who use their blocker on their left hand.

Goalie Blockers Sizing
More times than not, the fit of your Goalie Blocker is often overlooked. This is likely the result of the limited size availability compared to other pieces of equipment, however a properly sized Blocker provides you the protection and stick control you trust.
Which Blocker Size is for you?
The first step to finding the correct Blocker size is to utilize the “heel-of-palm-to-tip-of-middle-finger” measurement. This measurement will generally send you to the appropriate size you need.
Analyzing the Blocker Fit
It is important to ensure that the fingers tips lie close to the seam of the palm, or within 0.5” if the Blocker is for a young growing goaltender. Next you want to ensure the adjustable wrist strap goes directly across the wrist bone, and has minimal to no interference with your chest protector. The goaltender should be able to swivel their wrist to accommodate a range of save selections without any restrictions from the chest protector. You also want to ensure that the goalie can maintain control of their stick in addition to being able to maneuver the blocker when handling the puck.
Which Hand Do I Need?
Figuring out which hand you need for your Blocker can be slightly confusing. Goalies generally refer to themselves as "REGULAR" or "FULL RIGHT". Below is the easiest way to simplify which hand you need.
- Blocker Hands Simplified
- Regular - Blocker worn on your Right Hand
- Full Right - Blocker worn on your Left Hand
