The TRUE L87 Domestic Senior Goalie Catcher is perfect for that goaltender looking for elite-level performance with a more classic look and feel. If you’re familiar with TRUE and Lefevre’s work on the L12.2, you may notice this catcher have many similar specs.

External Material

The glove is outfitted with jenpro leather, with certain areas getting some extra reinforcement where necessary. The palm area under the cuff has been lined with thick, high-quality SureGrip material for a better, more professional feel.

Break Angle

The L87 goalie catcher has a 90° break, also known as the 580 break. A glove break that has slowly been rising in popularity, it gives the glove a larger, more rounded shape and allows the fingers to curl shut and close with ease. This way of closing the glove can feel very natural for many people, but it is still good to try all break angles before deciding which one is best for you. A glove with this break is built flexible and ready to respond to all situations.

Pocket Design

The glove uses a single-T design in the pocket, which may be considered more classic compared to the double-T.

Strapping

Elastic straps with velcro adorn the sides of the glove to keep it snug and in place while you play. The elastic allows the glove to move with you as you open and close it. The webbing strap at the wrist is engineered to hold your hand in place and resist wear and tear.

Cuff Design

Continuing with the cuff, TRUE and Lefevre opted for a more open style to add flexibility and freedom of movement to the wrist area and arm. The cuff is one-piece, which is more modern and stiffer than the two-piece but adds more coverage and protection in the wrist area. It is equipped with Game Ready padding inside the palm area for added protection and a better feel, both of which are important for that sensitive area.

Goalie Catcher Sizing

More times than not, the fit of your Goalie Catcher is often overlooked. This is likely the result of the limited size availability compared to other pieces of equipment, however a properly sized Catcher provides you the protection and stick control you trust.

Which Catcher Size is for you?
The first step to finding the correct Catcher size is to utilize the “heel-of-palm-to-tip-of-middle-finger” measurement. This measurement will generally send you to the appropriate size you need.

Analyzing the Catcher Fit
It is important to make sure the palm lines up properly within the catching glove, so that it can be closed without excessive force. New goalie gloves will be difficult to close initially, but through either a standard break-in process, or "baking" the catcher with our in-house convection skate ovens, they will soften over time.
*We do not recommend using any conventional in-home ovens, as the results have been very unpredictable in the past and could damage your Catcher.*

Next you want to ensure the adjustable wrist strap goes directly across the wrist bone, and has minimal to no interference with your chest protector. The goaltender should be able to swivel their wrist to accommodate a range of save selections without any restrictions from the chest protector.

Sizing for Growing Goaltenders
For growing goaltenders we recommend following the guidelines set above, rather than sizing up to accommodate growth. Oversized goalie gloves restrict control, especially for young developing goalies. As you climb the size ladder for Catchers, typically the glove requires more strength for pocket closure.

Which Hand Do I Need?
Figuring out which hand you need for your Catcher can be slightly confusing. Goalies generally refer to themselves as "REGULAR" or "FULL RIGHT". Below is the easiest way to simplify which hand you need.

    Goalie Catcher Hands Simplified
  • Regular - Catcher worn on your Left Hand
  • Full Right - Catcher worn on your Right Hand
