Best Price Promise
Rolling out as the middle price point for TRUE’s brand new Catalyst line of stock skates is the Catalyst 7 hockey skate. This skate is tailored for the high-performance agility player who wants some of the best features TRUE has to offer without quite breaking the bank. The Catalyst 7 features a TRUEShell one-piece carbon fibre shell, a dynamic flex tendon guard, a FibreShield side panel, and a ShiftMax holder.
Skate Fit Profile
The skates at the Senior level come in sizes 7-11.5 in Regular and Wide widths. When deciding on a skate size, a good rule of thumb is to take the player’s shoe size and drop it by 1 or 1.5 sizes. If you need a smaller size, the skates are also available in Intermediate and Junior sizes.
Boot Construction & Stiffness Profile
Neurofit+ is a thermoformable shell technology with a more anatomical shape for a superior fit. The design is meant to further increase your connection to the skate with a more neuromuscular unification. This tech combines the previous tech, TrueShell and Axenic. TRUE also integrated a FiberShield high-grade synthetic side panel for extra protection in that area. The shell on the Catalyst skate has been softened, in response to feedback for the previous TF skates.
Liner & Internal Padding
The skates use a black moisture-wicking liner to help keep you playing comfortably without the discomfort of a wet boot. The internal padding is made from elite orthotic-grade performance foam for a better feel inside the skate.
Toe Cap
The toe cap was crafted with TRUE’s new low-profile design, Carv. This cap promotes a more aggressive and aerodynamic playing style ideal for agility-based players with its sharper cutting edge and lighter weight. This cap is sleeker and lighter than what’s been seen previously on TRUE skates.
Tongue
The Catalyst 7 uses a traditional felt tongue combined with TRUE’s T-Guard insert for enhanced protection against pucks, sticks, and lace bite. The tongue is lightweight and fully adjustable and replaceable.
Insoles
TRUE integrated a Personalized Fit System (PFS) uses insole placement in the skates to accommodate low, mid, and high arch feet. This system came from the TF series and allows players to customize their skate fit without having to order custom. The placement of the fit inserts is marked clearly on the insole to make them easier to position in the skate.
Steel/Runner/Profile
The Shift holder debuted with the TF series, and now the Shift Max holder has improved durability with a thicker wall formation. Shift Max still features BenchChange technology for a faster blade replacement without the need for extra tools, like a magnetized blade change tool. The runner that the Catalyst 7 skates use is Shift Max high-grade 7CR stainless steel, which is strong and built to last.
Tendon Guard
On the back, the Catalyst 7 skates feature an elite-level dynamic flex tendon guard. It is attached with a single rivet for easy replaceability, and its toughness also comes with some recoil for that extra push while you skate.
Graphics
The skates take on the Catalyst black and gold colouration, with the addition of sleek silver accents. Its nickname “Cat7” can be found on the sides and toe, and credit to the designer Scott Van Horne is on the inside of the tendon guard on the liner. TRUE’s text logo and more references to Catalyst are scattered along the boot and on the toe.

Hockey Player Skate Sizing Guide
- Age
- Measurement from longest point of foot (cm)
When sizing for the correct size of a skate, we always advise taking the measurements below from a sitting position and not standing upright. Additional weight on your foot/feet can skew your result and misrepresent your foot size. The reason for this is that as you put your full weight on your feet, the arch of your foot will collapse and cause your foot to appear wider or longer than it actually is.
As well, please be aware that skate sizes and shoes sizing do not match exactly. As a general guideline, skate's size 1 - 1 ½ sizes smaller than shoes.
It is ideal for a player to have a tight, snug fit both in length and width as this will provide the best performance and durability. If a skate is too big you will feel your feet slide around and you will not get the full performance out of the skates and can also develop calcium deposits - Haglund’s Deformity or “Bauer Bumps” for lack of a better term although this issue doesn’t only occur with Bauer models.
An Ideal Fit
Stand with your skates laced and your heel snug in the heel cup. Your toes should just barely feather the end of the toe box. Bend forward into a skating stance. Your toes should pull back slightly from the toe box. Once heat fit, your foot should slide back into the foams of the skate and the length you felt in your skating stance will more-or-less become you standing size.
To obtain the measurement above you will need a soft tape measure and a pen. Start by placing the tape measure flat along the ground in a straight line. Sitting in a chair, place your foot down with the longest point of your foot (usually big toe, or second toe) in line with the edge of the tape measure. Make sure you keep your weight off of your foot. Take a pen and mark the tape measure where the edge of your heel ends. Record this length in cm. This measurement will correspond with the sizing charts in each brand below, if you do not see your exact measurement, select the size with the next size increment above your measurement (i.e. you measure 24.9 cm, you would select 25.1 cm or Size 6).
Sizing Children for Growth Room
If you are purchasing skates for your child, it is common and usually recommended to add some additional room in the skate to increase the last, we recommend no more than 1 full size. Feet stop growing around ages 15 – 15 ½, and from ages 14 - 15 ½ we would recommend adding only half (1/2) a size in length. Follow the same measurement instructions as above, once you obtain your true size move up ½ or 1 size.
***Sizing of skates is very preference based and these measurements will not guarantee a fit that is right for you. Please use these as general guidelines, for the most accurate fit we always recommend getting measured by a professional skate fitter at our store or your local pro shop.***
