Intro & New Features
The Sherwood Rekker SWD Womens Shoulder Pads are designed anatomically for the female hockey player. Created and validated by women with input from high level players. This design combines fit, function, form, and is designed to optimize players’ movements and overall game.
Shoulder Caps & Protection
To protect the shoulders, these shoulder pads feature 2DC dual density caps. This design combines molded and compression forming, which are used to form low and high density foams into a singular shoulder cap that provides protection for all levels of impacts. Throughout the shoulder pads, there is also Viconic impact protection, which is an ultra-resilient material that is designed for repeat impacts.
Sternum Protection
The sternum area is protected with Anatomically Isolated Zones which provide a combination of mobility and 360 degree protection. Sherwood also included CIP (Customizable Impact Protection), which provides the player with a customizable, adaptable fit, and protection level.
Spine Protection
The back and spine on these shoulder pads is covered and protected using Sherwood's CIP design. The Customizable Impact Protection allows players to achieve a custom feel and fit, which allows them to have a level of protection tailored to their needs.
Bicep Protection
The biceps are protected with durable foams. These foams are designed to absorb impacts and keep the arms protected and secure. The Customizable Impact Protection allows players to customize their own fit and level of protection, giving them the coverage that they need.
Abdominal Protection Piece
Sherwood added a large durable foam pad on the inside of these shoulder pads. This integrated pad allows the player to feel protected and secure when taking on impacts. It is designed to absorb the impacts and disperse them away, helping reduce the chance of injuries.
Liner
The inside of these shoulder pads also include a COP-r29 anti-bacterial liner. This anti-microbial liner has been scientifically proven to reduce bacteria and microbe causing odor. It is also designed to wick away moisture and provide players with a soft, comfortable feel, while also being dry and cool on the ice.

Bauer Supreme Shoulder Pads Fit
The Bauer Supreme line is designed to provide ‘Supreme’ coverage. Segmented body panels and an anatomically cut body provides a natural, close-to-the-body fit that helps players achieve maximum power with every motion.
At The Hockey Shop, we believe a shoulder pad should ultimately offer you’re the protection you need, in addition to being mobile and comfortable. Some preference is involved in the overall fit of the pad, but we find sizing the pads based on a chest measurement is a very accurate measure. Once you have this measurement, you can match to the sizing charts.
Player Shoulder Pad Sizing
Sizing before Purchase
To fit for a properly sized shoulder pad, you will need a soft tape measurer to measure and record your chest measurement. To do this, find the widest point of your chest (usually just below your armpits) and measure the circumference. Record the measurement in inches and compare to the available sizing charts in each brand. Also compare your height, weight and age to find your best fit.
Sizing after Purchase
Once you have received your new shoulder pad, stand in front of a mirror and strap them on. You will want to check the follow criteria to ensure a proper and protective fit:
1. The tips of your shoulder are sitting directly under the middle of the shoulder cap. If you are checking sizing for a child, it is ok for the tips of their shoulder to be under the inner half of the cap.
- This is important because if the shoulder cap does not sit in the correct position, your clavicles, shoulders, and upper arms can become more susceptible to injury.
- Adjust the bicep guards using the Velcro straps located underneath the shoulder caps (if applicable). At the highest point, the bicep guards should not be more than halfway down the upper arm. This is important because they can interfere with your elbow pads, throwing off the fit.
If you are checking sizing for a child, it is ok for the tips of their shoulder to be under the inner half of the cap and not directly in line with the middle.
