The CCM YTFlex 3 is a youth goalie pant: the padded short that covers a young goalie's hips, thighs, groin and lower spine and ties the rest of the kit together. It is built for goalies in youth divisions, including the one who has just put their hand up to try the net.
The thighs use a two-piece moulded foam for coverage where the leg pads do not reach. Hip, groin and spine protection is segmented foam, so it bends with the goalie instead of fighting the butterfly. The shell is 200D nylon with stretch zones, which lets the pant travel sideways, the direction a goalie actually moves, and the waist has a tapered fit so the pant stays where it was put.
Black, in two size bands. A goalie pant has to sit above the kneecap so the knee wing of the leg pad can tuck inside, so try the pant on with the pads and chest protector before you decide on a size.
Waist: Tapered fit
Thigh protection: Two-piece moulded foam
Hip and groin protection: Segmented foam
Spine: Segmented foam
Material: 200D nylon with stretch zones
Sizes: S/M, L/XL
Colour: Black
Division: Youth
Goalie pants are built heavier than player pants. The hips are reinforced with high-density foam rather than a thin layer of nylon and elastic, the thighs are squared off with thick plastic and foam for coverage, and the waist is beefed up to protect vital organs. They are also shaped for the lateral movement a goalie lives on, where a player pant is built to move back and forth.
Start with the waist measurement and match it to the size chart on the product page. An exact match is not essential: plenty of goalies wear a wider pant for net coverage, mobility and comfort, and some run a looser waist with suspenders to hold it up.
Once the waist works, check the length. The pant should sit above the kneecap, leaving room for the knee wing of the leg pad to rest on the inside edge of the knee. A pant that sits too low interferes with the leg pads.
Try the pant on with the chest protector and any extra knee protection at the same time. A properly fitted goalie pant integrates with the chest protector so it does not ride up, and lets you check there are no gaps in coverage. We strongly recommend trying the whole kit on at once.

Good so far, my son likes them better than his old pair. Light weight, that’s always better
