Serving players since 1988.Intro & New Features
New to 2026 is CCM’s Tacks XR Shoulder Pads. They are designed to provide exceptional protection and confidence on the ice to move comfortably with style. These pads feature JDP injected shoulder caps, height adjustable and removable front and back pads, and a EVA foam liner that is designed to repel sweat while providing comfort.
Construction
These shoulder pads feature a Max Coverage ASD (Anatomical Shield Design) with an amplified design and molded PE foam. This provides elite protection with compress-molded PE foam along with front/back air channels. This piece is optimized to protect elite players, and provide competitive ventilation to help cool the body throughout the game.
Shoulder Caps & Protection
The shoulders are protected with low-profile JDP injected shoulder caps with exposed foam covers. This elite-level construction disperses the impact force away from the shoulder caps and keeps players protected while on the ice.
Torso
The torso of these shoulder pads features air channels with Adapfit length adjustable straps. This provides elite ventilation with air channels inside the liner and length-adjustable torso straps to facilitate finding your ideal custom fit. Additionally, these shoulder pads feature a front pad that is removable and adjustable that provides extra lower protection and offers added coverage to protect and limit spacing for a close to the body feel.
Bicep Protection
The biceps are protected with injected plastic guards with adjustable strap length and height options. This allows players to achieve a customizable fit, tailored to their needs, while the reinforced bicep guards offer elite-level protection when you need it the most.
Sternum & Spine Protection
The sternum and spine are protected with a single piece back base panel with molded EVA foam in the lower back and D30 technology. The single piece back base panel provides elite mobility and comfort while the molded EVA foams in lower back offers maximum protection with D30 at the sternum and back spine.
Liner
The inside of these shoulder pads are lined with a sweat repellant EVA foam liner. This unique foam design allows the closed cell EVA foam liner to do its job by absorbing sweat while the innovative air channels in the pads provide an elite level of airflow.
Clavicle
These shoulder pads are designed to be extremely protective with the addition of the floating clavicle coverage with PE plastic guards. This provides elite clavicle protection with great mobility so that players aren’t feeling restricted while wearing their gear on the ice.

The CCM Tacks XR Senior Hockey Shoulder Pads come in sizes Small, Medium, Large, and Extra-Large.

Player Shoulder Pad Sizing
Sizing before Purchase
To fit for a properly sized shoulder pad, you will need a soft tape measurer to measure and record your chest measurement. To do this, find the widest point of your chest (usually just below your armpits) and measure the circumference. Record the measurement in inches and compare to the available sizing charts in each brand. Also compare your height, weight and age to find your best fit.
Sizing after Purchase
Once you have received your new shoulder pad, stand in front of a mirror and strap them on. You will want to check the follow criteria to ensure a proper and protective fit.
1. The tips of your shoulder are sitting directly under the middle of the shoulder cap. If you are checking sizing for a child, it is ok for the tips of their shoulder to be under the inner half of the cap.
- This is important because if the shoulder cap does not sit in the correct position, your clavicles, shoulders, and upper arms can become more susceptible to injury.
- Adjust the bicep guards using the Velcro straps located underneath the shoulder caps (if applicable). At the highest point, the bicep guards should not be more than halfway down the upper arm. This is important because they can interfere with your elbow pads, throwing off the fit.
If you are checking sizing for a child, it is ok for the tips of their shoulder to be under the inner half of the cap and not directly in line with the middle.
