Super Tacks AS1 Youth shoulder pads are highly protective but remain a great low-profile option for players looking for the best of both worlds. The fit remains similar to the original Super Tacks shoulder pad with slightly beefed up padding in the chest and rib cage area.
The AS1 delivers on comfort and mobility. A dual-layer stretch base jacket system and new adjustable straps in the front and back allow you to dial to your fit through the chest better than ever before.
The Super Tacks AS1 shoulder pad was designed for the grinder who isn’t afraid to power into the corner and willing to fight to win every puck battle.
Sternum Protection
AS1’s floating sternum system allows maximum mobility while still providing excellent sternum protection. The PE foam embedded with D30 Smart Material helps with shock absorption.
Spine Protection
An integrated spine design featuring lightweight, molded PE foam allows players to be in the middle of the action at all times without putting their body on the line.
Shoulder Caps
The AS1 offers PE shoulder caps reinforced with PE foam to offer young players additional comfort and protection.
Bicep Protection
The floating bicep has customizable adjustment to extend protection from crosschecks. When dropped down the extra protection piece covers the gap between bicep protection and elbow pad nicely.

Player Shoulder Pad Sizing
Sizing before Purchase
To fit for a properly sized shoulder pad, you will need a soft tape measurer to measure and record your chest measurement. To do this, find the widest point of your chest (usually just below your armpits) and measure the circumference. Record the measurement in inches and compare to the available sizing charts in each brand. Also compare your height, weight and age to find your best fit.
Sizing after Purchase
Once you have received your new shoulder pad, stand in front of a mirror and strap them on. You will want to check the follow criteria to ensure a proper and protective fit.
1. The tips of your shoulder are sitting directly under the middle of the shoulder cap. If you are checking sizing for a child, it is ok for the tips of their shoulder to be under the inner half of the cap.
- This is important because if the shoulder cap does not sit in the correct position, your clavicles, shoulders, and upper arms can become more susceptible to injury.
- Adjust the bicep guards using the Velcro straps located underneath the shoulder caps (if applicable). At the highest point, the bicep guards should not be more than halfway down the upper arm. This is important because they can interfere with your elbow pads, throwing off the fit.
If you are checking sizing for a child, it is ok for the tips of their shoulder to be under the inner half of the cap and not directly in line with the middle.
