The CCM Pro Spec is the chest and arm protector CCM builds for senior goalies at the top of the game, and CCM lists it as NHL-approved. It is what a goalie moves to when the shots are hard and well aimed every night, and when losing mobility to get that coverage is not an acceptable trade.
Moulded HD foam runs through the whole unit. D3O sits in the sternum, the one spot a puck is most likely to catch square. Around that, the build is segmented and tapered, so the shoulders, arms and ribs work as separate pieces instead of one stiff plate. That is what lets a goalie get into a reverse VH or throw an arm across the crease without the chest fighting back. The AER-TEC ventilation system moves air through the body of the protector, which you notice late in a game under a full set.
Sizing is Fit 1 through Fit 4, based on height and arm span rather than a chest measurement. Arm span is measured wrist to wrist with your arms held out. The arms of the protector should end just before your wrist so they do not interfere with the blocker and catcher.
Built for senior goalies playing competitive hockey who want pro-level protection with full range of motion.
Foam: Moulded HD foam throughout
Sternum: D3O high impact absorption
Build: Segmented with strategic tapering
Ventilation: AER-TEC system
Sizes: Fit 1, Fit 2, Fit 3, Fit 4
Level: Pro; listed by CCM as NHL-approved
CCM sizes the Pro Spec by height and arm span. Fit 1 covers 5'4" to 5'8" with a 51.5" to 54" arm span. Fit 2 covers 5'8" to 6'0" with 54.5" to 57". Fit 3 covers 5'11" to 6'3" with 57" to 62". Fit 4 covers 6'3" and up with 62" to 65.5".
Measure arm span wrist to wrist with your arms held out, bone to bone rather than fingertip to fingertip, since hand size has nothing to do with arm length.
Once it is on, check three things. The arms should end just before your wrist so they stay clear of your blocker and catcher. Your elbow should sit securely in the pocket of the elbow protection and stay there. The shoulder caps should wrap your shoulders, and the collar should not drop below your clavicle.
