Every goalie loves the feeling of a big glove save, and with its deep pocket and easy to close design, young goalies will get that feeling over and over again with the Phenom goalie catcher. It has a comfortable and responsive fit, plus a new construction that is ready for action as soon as the puck drops.
External Material
The outer portion of this catcher is made with JenPro material. It is a synthetic leather material commonly used for the external material to provide structure, durability, and an overall clean appearance.
Break Angle
This catcher is built with a 590 break angle. The 60 degree fingers to thumb closure is designed to provide great coverage, versatile hand positioning, quick and efficient movements.
Pocket Design
This catcher uses a deep single tee with soft lacing design. This provides a snappy closure and the reinforced construction helps maintain its pocket shape for longer. The full hand closure provides goalies with more control of the glove, making saves easier. The pocket works well with the 590 break to provide increased surface area for catching and puck retention.
Strapping
The hand sits nicely inside the catcher and is held together with an adjustable wrist strap. This keeps the hand in place while making saves, restricting any unwanted movements that could lead to potential injury. The comfortable and responsive feel along the palm have added comfort mesh finger stalls to keep the hands protected and secured from impacts.
Cuff Design
The CCM Phenom catcher features a one-piece cuff, which is a layered design of protection to provide a great range of motion with full coverage from impacts. The catcher also features a litecore construction which provides a lightweight and balanced design and is shaped to corral pucks into the pocket.
Palm & Liner
The inside of the catcher is lined with a felt liner. The felt lining is designed to provide comfort while wearing this catcher, while also featuring integrated foam to allow goalies to stay protected against puck impacts.
Sizing & Colors
The CCM Phenom Youth Goalie Catcher comes in a regular and full-right option, full-right is designed for those who catch with their right hand. This catcher is also offered in White/Black, White/Red/Black, and White/Royal/Black.

Goalie Catcher Sizing
More times than not, the fit of your Goalie Catcher is often overlooked. This is likely the result of the limited size availability compared to other pieces of equipment, however a properly sized Catcher provides you the protection and stick control you trust.
Which Catcher Size is for you?
The first step to finding the correct Catcher size is to utilize the “heel-of-palm-to-tip-of-middle-finger” measurement. This measurement will generally send you to the appropriate size you need.
Analyzing the Catcher Fit
It is important to make sure the palm lines up properly within the catching glove, so that it can be closed without excessive force. New goalie gloves will be difficult to close initially, but through either a standard break-in process, or "baking" the catcher with our in-house convection skate ovens, they will soften over time.
*We do not recommend using any conventional in-home ovens, as the results have been very unpredictable in the past and could damage your Catcher.*
Next you want to ensure the adjustable wrist strap goes directly across the wrist bone, and has minimal to no interference with your chest protector. The goaltender should be able to swivel their wrist to accommodate a range of save selections without any restrictions from the chest protector.
Sizing for Growing Goaltenders
For growing goaltenders we recommend following the guidelines set above, rather than sizing up to accommodate growth. Oversized goalie gloves restrict control, especially for young developing goalies. As you climb the size ladder for Catchers, typically the glove requires more strength for pocket closure.
Which Hand Do I Need?
Figuring out which hand you need for your Catcher can be slightly confusing. Goalies generally refer to themselves as "REGULAR" or "FULL RIGHT". Below is the easiest way to simplify which hand you need.
- Goalie Catcher Hands Simplified
- Regular - Catcher worn on your Left Hand
- Full Right - Catcher worn on your Right Hand
