"We’ve had gear tailored for female hockey players before, but not like this: nearly from scratch, made by women, for women."
Intro & New Features
CCM has expanded their increasingly-popular FTW line after a wildly successful debut last season. Amongst other new additions, the CCM Jetspeed FTW Skate has been announced, with the high-end skate designed to be the best fitting and performing skate available to women in hockey. The FTW skate features top-of-the-line additions from the FT8 Pro skate, such as the ADPT tongue, rear tendon, ankle pads and liner, and FTW-exclusive features such as the 2D Metaframe composition and footbed.
Skate Fit Profile
The FTW skate is available in a regular width configuration, with a tapered silhouette achieved through calculated modifications in the forefoot width area and around the heel portion. These modifications create a better connection and therefore, a better energy transfer from the player to the ice. Paired with the ankle pads from the FT8 Pro and the unique FTW footbed, this skate is designed to perform like no other and feel good while doing so.
Boot Construction & Stiffness Profile
Using multiple anatomical shape variances to create the composition of the boot, CCM has made a shape that is tailored specifically to women’s feet. The skate has been constructed with a sleek and tapered fit, aligning closely to the composition of female hockey players’ anatomy. Using a 2D Metaframe to accomplish a refined fit, the FTW skates are tailored to the natural silhouette of women’s feet, with the perfect amount of flexibility and support to achieve ultimate power transfer.
The CCM Jetspeed FTW skate has a stiffness rating of 190, providing a good balance between speed and agility to maximize quickness on the ice. The stiffness index of this skate is lower than the Tacks family but high enough to provide the perfect blend, or hybrid, of the key areas in skating performance.
Liner & Internal Padding
A TotalDri Pro liner is found in the FTW skate, which works to wick moisture away and keep feet comfortable and dry. This liner is treated with Polygiene, an antimicrobial technology that fights odor and bacteria so your feet stay fresh during play. Made to match the rest of the skate, the liner is green instead of the traditional blue found in liners with the same technology.
Multi-layered and denser ADPT Memory Foam makes up the composition of the internal padding in the Jetspeed FTW skate. Keeping women in mind, CCM has created a fit specific to the FTW skate which keeps the foot aligned closer to the natural physiological composition of female players. This change contributes heavily to reducing fatigue in the long term, benefitting players greatly.
Lacing System
The FTW skate uses the tried and true standard eyelet and lace system.
Tongue
Like the FT8 Pro, the FTW skate utilizes a layered ADPT memory foam construction with a molded core, as well as a ribbed central channel that wraps around the foot for ultimate feel and comfort. This tongue also has FlexMotion, a technology that maximizes forward flexion and additionally has built-in lace bite protection to keep you in your skates for longer.
Steel/Runner/Profile/Blade Holder
The FTW skate comes standard with the SpeedBlade XS holder. This quick-release holder and metal pin blade lock system have been designed for ease of use for replacing steel when needed.
CCM has equipped the FTW skate with the Step Steel runner. This steel is regarded as one of the highest quality options available on the market and boasts an extra 4mm in height over standard runners to add longevity.
Insoles
CCM has coupled the new FTW skate with a footbed exclusive to the women’s equipment line. Designed to accommodate the unique foot anatomy of female players, the new FTW insole features an elevated arch and heel, both for optimal fit and for quicker acceleration with every stride. Comfort was kept in mind while creating the FTW-exclusive insole, with ADPT memory foam being the primary material used in the construction. Strategically modified ADPT foam sections have been placed and differ from other retail skates to produce a fit experience tailored to women in the game.
Graphics
Staying true to the newly released FTW line colouring, these skates see pops of green in the tongue, insole, laces, and tendon guard as well as lining the CCM and FTW logos on the sides of the skate. Chrome accents are incorporated throughout the skate, accentuating the shape of the boot and highlighting the logos on the quarter package.

Hockey Player Skate Sizing Guide
When sizing for the correct size of a skate, we always advise taking the measurements below from a sitting position and not standing upright. Additional weight on your foot/feet can skew your result and misrepresent your foot size. The reason for this is that as you put your full weight on your feet, the arch of your foot will collapse and cause your foot to appear wider or longer than it actually is.
As well, please be aware that skate sizes and shoes sizing do not match exactly. As a general guideline, skates size 1 ½ sizes smaller than shoes.
It is ideal for a player to have a tight, snug fit both in length and width as this will provide the best performance and durability. If a skate is too big you will feel your feet slide around and you will not get the full performance out of the skates and can also develop calcium deposits - Haglund’s Deformity or “Bauer Bumps” for lack of a better term although this issue doesn’t only occur with Bauer models.
An Ideal Fit: Stand with your skates laced and your heel snug in the heel cup. Your toes should just barely feather the end of the toe box. Bend forward into a skating stance. Your toes should pull back slightly from the toe box. Once heat fit, your foot should slide back into the foams of the skate and the length you felt in your skating stance will more-or-less become you standing size.
To obtain the measurement above you will need a soft tape measure and a pen. Start by placing the tape measure flat along the ground in a straight line. Sitting in a chair, place your foot down with the longest point of your foot (usually big toe, or second toe) in line with the edge of the tape measure. Make sure you keep your weight off of your foot. Take a pen and mark the tape measure where the edge of your heel ends. Record this length in cm. This measurement will correspond with the sizing charts in each brand below, if you do not see your exact measurement, select the size with the next size increment above your measurement (i.e. you measure 24.9 cm, you would select 25.1 cm or Size 6).
Sizing Children for Growth Room: If you are purchasing skates for your child, it is common and usually recommended to add some additional room in the skate to increase the last, we recommend no more than 1 full size. Feet stop growing around ages 15 – 15 ½, and from ages 14 - 15 ½ we would recommend adding only half (1/2) a size in length. Follow the same measurement instructions as above, once you obtain your true size move up ½ or 1 size.
***Sizing of skates is very preference based and these measurements will not guarantee a fit that is right for you. Please use these as general guidelines, for the most accurate fit we always recommend getting measured by a professional skate fitter at our store or your local pro shop.***
