The CCM Jetspeed FT475 SR Hockey Skates are a performance level skate. Here at The Hockey Shop we know some of our customers value a combination of comfort and graphic appeal. If this falls into your ballpark, the FT475 skates are the ones for you. The FT475 offers many of the same features as the FT485 in a more affordable package. The One-Piece Boot is a standard across both models as well as the CCM XS quick release holder.

Skate Fit Profile

CCM has followed suit within the industry and made their skates more accessible to different foot profiles. CCM has moved away from the standard D, EE widths, and restructured their skate profiles into tapered, regular, and wide options. The new system fits are a result of the most common shapes amongst the 3D Scan system introduced a couple of years ago. The Tapered fit will be most similar to the previous Jetspeed fit, whereas the Regular will be most like the Tacks line and the Wide most like the previous Ribcore skates. That being said, at this price point level, the Jetspeed FT475 will only be offered in the Regular and Wide fit options.

Boot Construction & Stiffness Profile

The quarter package in the FT475 consists of a one-piece boot. Previously CCM only offered the one-piece boot in higher end models, but not anymore. By allowing the material to be one cohesive boot, players get more direct energy transfer from foot to skate, and a closer fit to their feet for faster strides.

The Jetspeed boot will continue to embrace the middle stiffness level amongst CCM skates. This promotes a hybrid between speed and agility to maximize overall quickness on the ice. On their stiffness level index, the FT475 resides at 140, coming in between the Ribcore index around 130 and the Tacks index of 155 at this respective price point of skates.

The tendon guard continues to offer flexibility to increase the overall range of motion of the boot. The tendon guard flexes slightly forward and back to not limit your stride strength.

Liner & Internal Padding

The liner in the Jetspeed FT475 is the HD Microfiber liner. This performance liner is moisture-wicking which keeps your feet dry and your skates light. The liner is also high resistance to wear, which increases the lifetime of the boot while still delivering major comfort.

The internal padding features memory foam to provide a comfortable wrap around the fit and to optimize the comfort of the skate.

Tongue

The tongue on the FT475 comes with a 7mm replaceable asymmetrical felt tongue. It also offers a reinforced layer down the middle of the tongue for added comfort and protection.

Insoles

The CCM Ortholite footbed in the FT475 is a lightweight insole to provide maximum comfort and support for your arches.

Lacing System

The Jetspeed line continues with the tried and true standard eyelet lacing system.

Steel Runner, Holder & Blade Profile

The stock steel will be the XS stainless steel. This blade provides a long-lasting edge for long-term performance.

The CCM Speedblade XS is mounted on the FT475 skates, offering the sturdy quick release system that has become a staple amongst the top end players around the world.

Graphics

The graphic on the CCM FT475 is quite similar to that of the FT4. The flashy but clean black red and white pattern will have the skates sure to be noticed.

Hockey Player Skate Sizing Guide

When sizing for the correct size of a skate, we always advise taking the measurements below from a sitting position and not standing upright. Additional weight on your foot/feet can skew your result and misrepresent your foot size. The reason for this is that as you put your full weight on your feet, the arch of your foot will collapse and cause your foot to appear wider or longer than it actually is.

As well, please be aware that skate sizes and shoes sizing do not match exactly. As a general guideline, skates size 1 ½ sizes smaller than shoes.

It is ideal for a player to have a tight, snug fit both in length and width as this will provide the best performance and durability. If a skate is too big you will feel your feet slide around and you will not get the full performance out of the skates and can also develop calcium deposits - Haglund’s Deformity or “Bauer Bumps” for lack of a better term although this issue doesn’t only occur with Bauer models.

An Ideal Fit: Stand with your skates laced and your heel snug in the heel cup. Your toes should just barely feather the end of the toe box. Bend forward into a skating stance. Your toes should pull back slightly from the toe box. Once heat fit, your foot should slide back into the foams of the skate and the length you felt in your skating stance will more-or-less become you standing size.

To obtain the measurement above you will need a soft tape measure and a pen. Start by placing the tape measure flat along the ground in a straight line. Sitting in a chair, place your foot down with the longest point of your foot (usually big toe, or second toe) in line with the edge of the tape measure. Make sure you keep your weight off of your foot. Take a pen and mark the tape measure where the edge of your heel ends. Record this length in cm. This measurement will correspond with the sizing charts in each brand below, if you do not see your exact measurement, select the size with the next size increment above your measurement (i.e. you measure 24.9 cm, you would select 25.1 cm or Size 6).

Sizing Children for Growth Room: If you are purchasing skates for your child, it is common and usually recommended to add some additional room in the skate to increase the last, we recommend no more than 1 full size. Feet stop growing around ages 15 – 15 ½, and from ages 14 - 15 ½ we would recommend adding only half (1/2) a size in length. Follow the same measurement instructions as above, once you obtain your true size move up ½ or 1 size.

***Sizing of skates is very preference based and these measurements will not guarantee a fit that is right for you. Please use these as general guidelines, for the most accurate fit we always recommend getting measured by a professional skate fitter at our store or your local pro shop.***
