"The CCM EFlex 7.9 has arrived — and it might be the most impressive senior-level release of the year. While most reviews focus on the pro model, the E7.9 deserves its own spotlight thanks to the performance it delivers at a more accessible price point. With this release, CCM clearly set out to elevate their senior price-point gear, and the result is a package that rivals pro-level offerings in both feel and function."
Intro & New Features
New for the CCM EFlex goalie line in 2025, CCM has released the Extreme Flex E7.9 goalie catcher. This catcher comes with a 580 break angle which is seen on many popular catchers, a crossform strap to secure the hand in place while making saves, and a single T pocket design with skate lace webbing for excellent puck absorption.
External Material
The catcher is covered with CCM’s Speedskin material, which can also be found on the leg pads. This is a light synthetic leather that’s lighter than traditional JenPro with a more consistent look and feel. Speedskin on the catcher does not have the same amount of slide as it does on the leg pads, so you can be assured you will still have elite-level control of the puck.
Break Angle
The original 580 catcher break angle is characterized by a more open and rounded shape when the glove is closed and offers a wider catching surface, which is often preferred by goaltenders who prioritize a more natural feel and want a larger pocket to catch the puck with greater ease.
Pocket Design
The EFlex 7.9 catcher uses a reinforced single T design. This provides a snappy closure and the reinforced construction helps maintain its pocket shape for longer. The full hand closure provides goalies with more control of the glove, making saves easier. The pocket works well with the 580 break to provide increased surface area for catching and puck retention.
Strapping
The backhand of the catcher features a Cross Form strap, which secures the back of the hand through multiple attachment points, allowing for greater wrist mobility and responsiveness. In addition to the backhand, the inside has finger stalls with added fit adjustments. The comfort mesh finger stalls have responsive and adjustable Neoprene pinky and thumb loops to keep your hand locked in.
Cuff Design
Litecore technology is injected into the cuff and thumb to provide the fastest and most efficient response from its lightweight and protective capabilities. It’s designed to make it extremely easy to open and close the glove. The catcher also uses a flexmotion cuff. The new cuff shape provides added range of motion and greater integration with the arm & body.
Backhand Protection
The backhand is protected with the integration of the HD Flexmotion backhand. This design helps goalies stay protected with strategic flex points for easy open and close of the glove, with added impact protection to allow them to make saves while reducing any chance of injury.
Palm & Liner
The E7.9 catcher comes with a hexa palm which has a new textured design for increased control and comfort while goalies make saves with their glove. It also features a game-ready fit with layered foam protection for an easy break in process and better puck absorption.
Sizes & Colors
The CCM Extreme Flex E7.9 Intermediate Goalie Catcher is available in regular and full right catch hand in Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, White/Black, White/Navy, White, and Black.

Goalie Catcher Sizing
More times than not, the fit of your Goalie Catcher is often overlooked. This is likely the result of the limited size availability compared to other pieces of equipment, however a properly sized Catcher provides you the protection and stick control you trust.
Which Catcher Size is for you?
The first step to finding the correct Catcher size is to utilize the “heel-of-palm-to-tip-of-middle-finger” measurement. This measurement will generally send you to the appropriate size you need.
Analyzing the Catcher Fit
It is important to make sure the palm lines up properly within the catching glove, so that it can be closed without excessive force. New goalie gloves will be difficult to close initially, but through either a standard break-in process, or "baking" the catcher with our in-house convection skate ovens, they will soften over time.
*We do not recommend using any conventional in-home ovens, as the results have been very unpredictable in the past and could damage your Catcher.*
Next you want to ensure the adjustable wrist strap goes directly across the wrist bone, and has minimal to no interference with your chest protector. The goaltender should be able to swivel their wrist to accommodate a range of save selections without any restrictions from the chest protector.
Sizing for Growing Goaltenders
For growing goaltenders we recommend following the guidelines set above, rather than sizing up to accommodate growth. Oversized goalie gloves restrict control, especially for young developing goalies. As you climb the size ladder for Catchers, typically the glove requires more strength for pocket closure.
Which Hand Do I Need?
Figuring out which hand you need for your Catcher can be slightly confusing. Goalies generally refer to themselves as "REGULAR" or "FULL RIGHT". Below is the easiest way to simplify which hand you need.
- Goalie Catcher Hands Simplified
- Regular - Catcher worn on your Left Hand
- Full Right - Catcher worn on your Right Hand
