"The CCM EFlex 7.9 has arrived — and it might be the most impressive senior-level release of the year. While most reviews focus on the pro model, the E7.9 deserves its own spotlight thanks to the performance it delivers at a more accessible price point. With this release, CCM clearly set out to elevate their senior price-point gear, and the result is a package that rivals pro-level offerings in both feel and function."
Intro & New Features
New in the 2025 season are the Heaton Edition CCM Extreme Flex 7.9 Goalie Leg Pads. Replicating an iconic design, and built from a variety of technologies and systems, it includes many great features that make the pad a great option. The HD raised flat inside edge design provides maximized seal and stability for powerful cross-crease movements, while the pre-curved single inner, single outer break gives a flexible feel while providing great butterfly closure.
External Material
CCM uses their new Cross-Glide Technology to deliver a superior slide by reducing friction between the pads and the ice. Sliding capabilities are powered through the DRS (Dynamic Response System) which includes a one-piece landing zone that is built for excellent seal and stability to move with power and speed, with enhanced impact absorption.
Internal Construction
Constructed with Dualite core, this lightweight dual flex profile is built for a flexible feel below the knee and has added stiffness in the thigh rise. It also features rebound foam that is built for more control and precision.
Pad Break
The EFlex 7.9 leg pads feature a pre-curved, single inner, single outer break. It is designed to provide a flexible feel while providing great butterfly closure.
Boot Angle & Toe Taper
The EFlex 7.9 leg pads feature a 90° boot angle with a shallow channel and an offset hybrid skate lace system, which is designed to have an enhanced range of motion and connectivity for power pushes. The pads use a 90-degree boot angle with a shallow channel for good balance and stability. The 90-degree boot angle allows the goalie to integrate their pads more effectively with the goal posts when in a butterfly position. By aligning the skate blade vertically, the goalie can achieve a better seal against the ice and post, minimizing gaps and improving coverage.
Knee Cradle
The open knee cradle with a removable knee cradle wrap allows for optimal interaction and rotational performance with the knee pads.
Strapping
CCM designed the EFlex 7.9 leg pads with the goal of having a deep, tight fit for goaltenders and that’s why these pads use a Quick Motion 3 Strapping System. This system has been tailored for hybrid goaltenders for greater responsiveness and reactivity. It uses a padded upper calf strap to optimize leg positioning and pad rotation, while the removable lower strap provides a more secure fit.
Sizes & Colors
The Heaton Edition CCM Extreme Flex E7.9 Senior Goalie Leg Pads feature the iconic appearance of the original Heaton GP10. These nostalgic details include the Heaton branding, GP10 logo, and the same red graphic using both printed and cut and sew design elements. Available in sizes 33+1", 34+1", and 35+2".

Goalie Leg Pads Sizing
Deciding your Goalie Pads size is crucial for having total control while moving in the crease. Sizing your pads properly is the difference between getting that perfect seal on your butterfly, and feeling clunky or unprotected in the net. Below we have compiled some information to better assist you in deciding which size is right for you.
Floor-To-Knee Measurement
Your Floor-To-Knee measurement will give you a good indication as to what "Pad Size" you will need. This measurement can be matched up with the provided sizing chart above.
How to Measure your Floor-To-Knee
- 1. In your bare feet, place the soft measuring tape at the inside of the bottom of your foot.
2. Slightly bend your knee.
3. Run the soft measuring tape up your shin, to the middle of your knee.
4. Match your Floor-To-Knee measurement with the provided sizing chart
What to look for when trying on your new pads.
Once you have your new leg pads, you’ll need to make sure they fit you properly. To do so, you’ll need to put the pads on with your skates. There a couple things to do to check size, once you have the pads on:
1. Stand straight and bring your feet together. This will show you the overall height of the pad, while on. Your pads should not be taller than your hips. Ideally you want the top of your pad at the half-way point of your thighs. A pad fitted for a young growing goaltender can be a little taller, so a little above the half-way point is normal.
2. Next you want to get in your stance, keep your hands in a ready position, and drop to your butterfly. Without moving your legs to correct your butterfly, bring your heels together. This is where you assess your knee position. For a proper fit, you want the middle of your knee to sit directly on the center of the knee stack. If you’re looking for growing room, you want the middle of your knee to land roughly 1.5” below the center of the knee stack (1” for JR).
Not getting a complete seal while in your butterfly?
If you're having trouble getting a full seal in your new pads, it may be the way you’re strapping them up. Make sure your boot strap and top straps (above knee) are loosened up a bit. The reason you want these straps loose is because they have a direct effect on the rotation of the pad. Having a loose boot strap makes it easy for your foot and ankle to rotate as the pad moves. Same goes for the top straps, as you don't want them pulling down too hard on the thigh rise.
