Intro & New Feature
s
The goal of the EFlex 6 chest protector this season is not only to offer an extremely lightweight option for goaltenders in terms of protective equipment but also to provide amazing ventilation through the use of CCM’s new Aer-Tec technology. In addition to Aer-Tec, the gear also includes D3O foam and a combination of molded HD foams and LD ventilated foams.
External Material
CCM is rolling out their revolutionary Aer-Tec ventilation and suspension systems for their 2023 season protective gear, and that includes the EFlex 6 chest protector. Aer-Tec looks to address overheating in protective hockey gear, which is especially important for goalies and with their chest and arm protector. Aer-Tec uses ventilation ports and suspends the gear away from the body, effectively allowing for more cool air to travel through while releasing hot air back out.
Internal Foams
The EFlex 6 continues to use D3O foam in strategic areas in the gear, including the sternum, in addition to molded HD foams and LD ventilated foams. The LD ventilated foams are part of the Aer-Tec ventilation system and keep the pads light while promoting aeration. D3O foam is a smart material with a soft and flexible nature when at rest, allowing for a comfortable fit and freedom of movement. However, upon impact, the foam instantaneously stiffens and absorbs the energy generated by the collision. This quick transformation helps to dissipate and spread out the force, reducing the risk of injury.
Shoulder Caps
The pads feature segmented and contoured shoulder floaters. This design maintains coverage and presence in the net while allowing for easy head movement and a close-to-the-body feel. The shoulder caps on the Eflex 6 are made up of compression-molded HD foam for optimized protection.
Adjustable Arms
This iteration includes a Quick-Release velcro adjustment with a Flexmotion design in the shoulders. The velcro adjustment will help you get the right fit for you, and the Flexmotion design makes it so can reach for the puck as quickly and efficiently as possible with no restrictions in movement.
Elbow Caps
The elbows are independently adjustable and include Comfort Fit caps to ensure great mobility and a personalized fit just for you.
Back Straps
The EFlex 6 chest protector features 2 back clips on either side to put the unit on. These clips are protected by high-density foam pads, which reduces breakage from puck impacts. The senior variation is also held up with CCM’s new Aer-Tec Suspension system, which keeps the gear held away from the body to allow for greater airflow throughout the pads.
Sizes & Colors
The EFlex 6 Senior chest protector comes in sizes Small, Medium, Large, and XLarge in the following colourways: Black/Red/White and Black.

Goalie Chest Protector Sizing
Sizing a Goaltenders Chest Protector is important to ensure the range of motion is not impeded, while still offering complete coverage from impact. There are steps necessary to finding the right fit in your Chest Protector, and the first is to know your measurements.
Finding The Right Size - Measuring Arm Span
To measure your arm span, hold your arms out and measure from wrist to wrist. Start from the bottom of one forearm (you’ll see a bone where your wrist is) and measure to the other. Avoid measuring from fingertip to fingertip, as hand size is not relative to arm length. You do not want the Chest Protectors arm lengths to be too long and interfere with the Catcher and Blocker.
Making Sure Your Chest Protector Fits Properly
Below are some good criteria to follow to make sure your Chest Protector fits properly.
- 1. The arms of the Chest Protector end just before your wrist. This is important because you want to ensure that the wrist portion of the arms do not interfere with your blocker and catching glove. Depending on the model, adjustable arms may be an offered feature, which is an added bonus for goaltenders that are still growing. If the arms are too long, or too short, check the arms of your Chest Protector to see if the length can be adjusted.
- 2. The elbow of the goaltender fits securely into the pocket of the elbow protection, and doesn't shift too far away from them. Keep in mind, arms usually have to be adjusted and positioned properly while putting on your chest protector.
- 3. Make sure the shoulders of the Chest Protector are sitting comfortably and wrapped around your shoulders. This can be seen visually by looking at the collar of the Chest Protector, looking to see the shoulders are sitting in the pocket of the shoulder caps. You also want to make sure that the collar of the Chest Protector doesn't sit below the clavicle, exposing the goaltenders collar bone.
