Editor's Full Product Review

"Prepare for a revolution; the Axis line from CCM is back in one of the biggest updates to a gear line yet, starting with the catcher and blocker. The Axis 2 goalie gear set bolsters a ton of brand new tech—including the highly anticipated 591 break—and lighter construction than ever before."

"The Axis 2 will definitely level up your game."

CCM Axis 2: Read the Review!

CCM has upgraded their stiff pad line for 2022 in the new Axis 2 collection. The Axis 2 blocker employs many new and returning technologies intended to offer elite performance with a very clean and sharp look. Tech used in the Axis 2 includes D3O foam, LiteCore, Speed Skin, DuraPalm, and Flexmotion 2 technology. This blocker looks to complete the collection with enhancements and upgrades tailored to the butterfly goaltender style.

External Material

Speed Skin is back on the Axis 2 blocker to greatly increase your mobility on the save. This outer skin is one of the lightest skins currently on the market, which is why CCM continues to use it in their goalie gear across all levels.

Internal Construction

The blocker once again uses LiteCore technology, which was originally seen in the Premier series. The Axis 2 put a major focus on power and rebound control, and LiteCore is able to offer that amazing power and balance at an incredibly light weight.

Palm Material

The Axis 2 uses an AX Suede DuraPalm for premium comfort and feel. The palm additionally has been treated with Polygiene and Odor Crunch liners to keep you feeling cleaner and fresher for longer during the game. To provide a more balanced feel, the Axis 2 uses a centered palm orientation.

Side Hand Protection

For elite protection against high-impact situations, the blocker is equipped with a molded X-stiff sidewall. The X-stiffness also works in tangent with the rest of the gear collection, which all follow a stiffer profile for a better seal and stronger power on the rebounds.

Cuff

The Axis 2 uses a Flexmotion 2 cuff, which has been segmented strategically to allow for easier movement and a greater range of motion. This is particularly important for butterfly goalies who may need to reach for and direct pucks from odd angles on the ice.

Hand Protection

Around the sidewall includes curved finger protection to keep your hand safe, even from impact coming from the side or a blind spot. The fingers at the front are additionally covered with D3O and an HD foam wrap. D3O is a military-grade foam material that offers maximum coverage and protection in such a delicate area.

Goalie Blockers Sizing

More times than not, the fit of your Goalie Blocker is often overlooked. This is likely the result of the limited size availability compared to other pieces of equipment, however a properly sized Blocker provides you the protection and stick control you trust.

Which Blocker Size is for you?
The first step to finding the correct Blocker size is to utilize the “heel-of-palm-to-tip-of-middle-finger” measurement. This measurement will generally send you to the appropriate size you need.

Analyzing the Blocker Fit
It is important to ensure that the fingers tips lie close to the seam of the palm, or within 0.5” if the Blocker is for a young growing goaltender. Next you want to ensure the adjustable wrist strap goes directly across the wrist bone, and has minimal to no interference with your chest protector. The goaltender should be able to swivel their wrist to accommodate a range of save selections without any restrictions from the chest protector. You also want to ensure that the goalie can maintain control of their stick in addition to being able to maneuver the blocker when handling the puck.

Which Hand Do I Need?
Figuring out which hand you need for your Blocker can be slightly confusing. Goalies generally refer to themselves as "REGULAR" or "FULL RIGHT". Below is the easiest way to simplify which hand you need.
