The new pad for the Axis junior line is the A1.5 junior goalie leg pads. The A1.5 pads take the stiff, slim and light pad design inherited from the Axis Pro pads and makes it available to growing goalies. Featuring a simple velcro strapping system, bungee toe ties and a loose fit, the A1.5 jr pads will get your goalie out and stopping pucks as quickly as possible.
External Material
The A1.5 pads feature CCM’s exclusive Speed Skin material. This helps reduce friction on the ice and make the most of the power that the goaltender puts to the ice in the butterfly. The material can also help later on in games when the ice is slightly slower than at the beginning.
Internal Construction
The internal construction of the Axis A1.5 junior pads is going to be stiffer than quite a few of the other junior pads on the market. Featuring Litecore technology the A1.5 pads provide powerful rebounds that are designed to be kicked as far away from the goaltender as possible.
Pad Break
The Source Exclusive version of the A1.5 junior leg pads offers a slightly more beneficial pad flex when compared to the CCM stock version. Offering a single break outer roll allows for the pad to close the butterfly slightly easier as well as ensuring that there is some flex included that allows the goaltender to maneuver the pad slightly easier. This is very important for smaller goalies that are still learning exactly how to best move around the crease.
Boot Angle & Toe Taper
The toe taper of the A1.5 junior pads works very well in conjunction with the raised flat inside edge of the pad, which is a large change when compared with the older premier pads. The flat inside edge allows for incredible seal as well as greater stability while in the butterfly.
Knee Cradle
The knee cradle of the Axis 1.5 Source Exclusive pads is a large upgrade over stock. Featuring HD foam as well as the traditional PE, it offers better seal and a solid landing surface. The knee wrap is also removable and gives the goalie an option for the tightness and strapping location.
Strapping
Velcro strapping has become very popular in the goalie world, and CCM is not lagging behind here. The QMSS system provides a familiar loose feel but is limited to 3 total velcro straps. The pad also features velcro bungee cords to limit hip strain as well as

Goalie Leg Pad Sizing
Sizing up your goalie leg pads is crucial for having total control while moving in the crease. There are two different measurements you can use to project the size of leg pad you should be wearing. The first one is your floor-to-knee measurement, which you can match up with our provided sizing charts to find the size of pad you would wear, before plus sizing. The second is the sum of your skate size, mid-ankle-to-mid-knee measurement, and your mid-knee-to-mid-thigh measurement. This measurement gives you a rough idea of what overall size pad you should purchase.

Sizing after Purchase
Once you have your new leg pads, you’ll need to make sure they fit you properly. To do so, you’ll need to put the pads on with your skates, as if you are about to go on the ice. There a couple things to do to check size, once you have the pads on:
