New for 2022 is the smaller sibling of the G-NETik V: the G-NETik X5. Brian’s really demonstrated their design capabilities in the mid-level X5 with a bevelled thumb, No Slip SBA synthetic palm, and laced-in 35° break angle. The X5 looks to upgrade your game, no matter the level you play at.

External Material
The X5 uses Jenpro synthetic leather material along the exterior, which is a well-renowned material for its consistent toughness and water resistance. The palm exterior is equipped with Game Ready leather material for extra reinforcement in an area that gets quite a bit of action during the game. On the inside, the palm is lined with No Slip Grip Nash material to help you keep a good and effortless hold on the glove, no matter how wet the inside gets while out on the ice. The finger stalls are also made of Brian’s AirKnit material for great breathability over your fingers.

Break Angle
The laced-in 35° break angle is the same as that seen in the G-NETik V, which is more of a fingers-to-thumb closure. This catch angle has an amazing snappy feel on the close.

Pocket Design
The X5 is built with a double-T pocket design, which is a naturally deeper pocket and works with the snappy break angle to offer superior responsiveness. The extra lace and open space make it noticeably easier to both see and track the puck on the ice. Brian’s also integrated their sharply bevelled thumb to help funnel pucks into and toward the pocket better. This functionality works in harmony with the large double-T pocket, allowing you to catch the puck with precision and ease.

Strapping
The X5 employs multiple strapping styles to keep the process simple and the glove secured to your hand. The backhand and wrist strappings use traditional styles; velcro and webbing respectively. An elastic thumb strap has been implemented for a secure fit that won’t obstruct movement or closure. We already touched on the No Slip Grip along the inside palm, which works in tangent with the floating wrist pad and strap.

Cuff Design
The catcher uses a one-piece cuff for stability on saves and security on the fit. It also gives the glove a slick, modern design.

Colors & Customization
The Brian's G-NETik X5 Senior Goalie Catcher comes in Regular and Full Right configurations, and the following colourways: White, White/Black, White/Black/Red, White/Blue, and White/Red.

Goalie Catcher Sizing Chart

**Hand Measurement
Senior *7" - 8 ½"
Intermediate 6 ⅓" - 7"

*8" - 8 ½" is typically seen as a SR-XL palm
**Hand Measurement is made from heel of palm to the tip of your middle finger

Goalie Catcher Sizing

More times than not, the fit of your Goalie Catcher is often overlooked. This is likely the result of the limited size availability compared to other pieces of equipment, however a properly sized Catcher provides you the protection and stick control you trust.

Which Catcher Size is for you?
The first step to finding the correct Catcher size is to utilize the “heel-of-palm-to-tip-of-middle-finger” measurement. This measurement will generally send you to the appropriate size you need.

Analyzing the Catcher Fit
It is important to make sure the palm lines up properly within the catching glove, so that it can be closed without excessive force. New goalie gloves will be difficult to close initially, but through either a standard break-in process, or "baking" the catcher with our in-house convection skate ovens, they will soften over time.
*We do not recommend using any conventional in-home ovens, as the results have been very unpredictable in the past and could damage your Catcher.*

Next you want to ensure the adjustable wrist strap goes directly across the wrist bone, and has minimal to no interference with your chest protector. The goaltender should be able to swivel their wrist to accommodate a range of save selections without any restrictions from the chest protector.

Sizing for Growing Goaltenders
For growing goaltenders we recommend following the guidelines set above, rather than sizing up to accommodate growth. Oversized goalie gloves restrict control, especially for young developing goalies. As you climb the size ladder for Catchers, typically the glove requires more strength for pocket closure.

Which Hand Do I Need?
Figuring out which hand you need for your Catcher can be slightly confusing. Goalies generally refer to themselves as "REGULAR" or "FULL RIGHT". Below is the easiest way to simplify which hand you need.

    Goalie Catcher Hands Simplified
  • Regular - Catcher worn on your Left Hand
  • Full Right - Catcher worn on your Right Hand

Easy break-in, amazingly light, and great protection. Only qualm is I wish I'd been able to get one with an Intermediate palm as it's definitely made for a bigger hand; I have large hands for a female, but I have to splay mine as far as it's able to reach the pinky finger stall, which means I don't necessarily have the best leverage on the break. It's also really difficult to get the glove back on if you have to take it off when it's wet due to the grippy (but very comfortable) material on the inside of the floating wrist cinch. Overall, though, I really love it!

My kid LOVES this catcher

Quick break in period for my U15 son, he absolutely loves this catcher. Excellent quality from an off-shore built product. I haven’t seen a puck pop out yet (5 practices) and ZERO stingers, which was an issue with his previous Warrior product. For a second price-point product, Brian’s did it right. I would not hesitate to purchase again.
