"The Bauer Vapor FLYLITE goalie stick is a refined, high-performance evolution of an already best-selling line. It builds on the strengths of the HyperLite 2 with a more responsive paddle, better puck-handling features, and improved shaft durability — all while keeping weight competitive."

"The FLYLITE is definitely worth a test drive."

Bauer Vapor FLYLITE: Read the Review!

Intro & New Features

New for 2025 is the Bauer Vapor Flypro goalie stick. At a second price-point, this stick has many features similar to the Flylite that make it a solid, and reliable option for goalies who are looking for a strong and durable stick. Coupled with a UD carbon shaft, a round toe with Textreme materials, and Pentagrip on the handle, this stick will allow goalies to take their game to the next level.

Shaft Construction

The shaft on the Vapor Flypro is made with UD carbon, which provides exceptional strength and stiffness while keeping the overall weight of the stick low. The unidirectional nature of the carbon fibres provide targeted reinforcement in strategic areas of the stick for increased durability. UD carbon also enhances the responsiveness and energy transfer, making it easier and more efficient to pass or shoot when needed.

Paddle Construction

The paddle is constructed using carbon glass materials coupled with Bridgecore. The carbon glass is designed to provide increased stiffness and responsiveness, which allows for better energy transfer when handling the puck. Bauer has included the use of Bridgecore in the Flypro which makes the stick lightweight and provides great durability.

Blade Construction & Stiffness

The blade on the Flypro is made from Textreme carbon fiber. This technology is used in Bauer goalie gear because of its reliability and performance. Textreme is more durable compared to other carbon fiber materials, and it is also incredibly lightweight. The Aerofoam is responsible for the amazing feel when holding the stick, and the tech is known for enhancing responsiveness.

Graphics

When designing the Flypro goalie stick, Bauer included some unique graphics that are new to the Bauer Vapor line of sticks. From the shaft down to the paddle, Bauer added new patterns that make the stick have a modern look. On the shaft there is the Flypro logo in a new font and coupled with it are the Bauer and Vapor logos on either side of the paddle.

Grip

The Vapor Flypro uses a Pentagrip and geometry between the paddle and shaft for a more ergonomic and natural shape. This optimized grip is textured with an asymmetrical pentagonal shape over the shaft and on the front side, where the goalie would hold the stick. That way, the goalie can hold the stick more naturally while holding more of the stick in their hand.

Blade Patterns, Paddle Lengths, Stick Lengths, Weight, Level of Play

The Bauer Vapor Flypro Senior Goalie Stick is available in White/Silver, Black, Blue, Red, Navy, and Sport Gold. This stick also comes in lengths 24”-27” in left and right hands with a P31 curve.

Goalie Stick Sizing Information

Unlike other pieces of gear, Goalie Sticks are sized mostly to the goaltender’s preference and playing style rather than their height. The most important measurement, when purchasing a new goal stick, is the paddle height (the wide portion of the stick), which is usually taken from the heel of the stick to the shaft/paddle interface. The reason for the paddle height’s significance is because it sets up the goaltender’s depth in the ready stance and (if properly sized) positions the blocker in an optimal position.

Sizing Your Goalie Stick
To start analyzing the size of your goalie stick, put on your goalie skates to get an accurate height of where you will be in your stance. If you’re looking to be even more accurate, strap on your goalie pads and blocker as well. Once that is done, get comfortable in your natural stance (the one you’d be in during a majority of gameplay) and look for the following:
1. The entire blade of the stick is flush with the ground while being 1’ - 2’ in front of your feet
2. After getting your stick into the flush position, check that the inside edge of the blocker hand sits on the outside edge of the goal pad (this is while holding just above the paddle).

Goalie Stick Sizing Considerations
Goalie Stick sizing can be very subjective compared to other pieces of equipment. The reason for this is the ambiguity of each goaltenders ‘natural stance’, especially with younger goaltenders. It is rather common for children to use taller sticks in comparison to their height, as their stance depth isn’t usually as aggressive as a seasoned goalie.

The shaft length of a goalie stick is usually best left at its stock length, as it serves to counteract the weight of the blade and ideally place the center of gravity at the top of the paddle. The one exception to this rule is for advanced puck handlers, cutting the shaft will allow more power transfer when shooting as a result of being able to keep the blade flush to the ice while near the goaltender’s feet.
