"As the successor to the popular HyperLite 2 series, the FLYLITE builds on Bauer’s proven formula for lightweight, mobile gear tailored to the modern reactive goaltender; the Vapor line has long been a favorite for goalies who play fast and stay aggressive in the crease."
Intro & New Features
As any goaltenders knows, having reliable and high-performance gear is essential for success on the ice. Bauer has taken their renowned Flylite gear and upgraded it for the 2025 season with a combination of new technology, what worked before, and what’s worked in their other families. The Flylite blocker features a Rebound Boost Core, a Duraconnekt palm, open cuff, and a CURV composite construction.
External Material
Bauer continues to use SL1D3R skin on this blocker for the 2025 season. SL1D3R skin is a special surface designed to provide durability compared to traditional materials used on goalie pads. It is made up of a combination of materials including, a high-density polyethylene sheet and a proprietary coating; the HDPE sheet is a type of plastic known for its low friction and wear-resistant properties. The coating further enhances the effect of the HDPE sheet.
Internal Construction
The Rebound Boost Core is a specialized foam construction that is designed to provide maximum rebound control. The foam is specially engineered to be both lightweight and durable, allowing it to absorb the impact of incoming shots while also providing a lively rebound that helps goalies control the play. CURV composite is also built into the construction, which is used in key areas such as the thumb, palm, and fingers, providing added durability and protection in high-impact areas.
Palm Material
The Duraconnekt palm on the Flylite is made from a combination of durable synthetic materials, including nylon and polyester, which are engineered to withstand the wear and tear of frequent use. This additionally makes the palm more resistant to abrasions, tears, and other types of damages, helping extend the life of the blocker. The Duraconnekt palm also includes excellent grip, thanks to its textured surface, helping goalies maintain a secure hold on their stick throughout the game.
Side Hand Protection
Bauer uses a reinforced CURV composite construction into the side plate of the Fylite blocker. The CURV composite material is a lightweight and highly durable material that is designed to provide excellent protection against impact and wear. It’s also great at absorbing impact, making it able to protect your hand while withstanding even the most demanding conditions on the ice.
Cuff
The wide open cuff is a key design that increases wrist mobility. The cuff has been designed to focus on giving the goalie an enhanced range of motion so they can make quick and easy movements and more saves to keep them in the game. Bauer has also employed the use of Aerolite in the Flylite, which is a foam made from polyethylene, EVA, and other advanced polymers, and it is engineered to be both lightweight and highly durable.
Finger Protection
The Vapor FlyLite blocker wraps the fingers with easy-flex, hinge finger blocks, composed of Bauer's lightweight, high-impact DCT foam. DCT is designed to provide a combination of comfort and protection by utilizing a series of lightweight foam pods that are strategically placed throughout the blocker. These foam pods are engineered to provide a high level of impact protection while also allowing for greater mobility and comfort while also providing excellent impact protection. They absorb and disperse impact energy, making it easier to make saves with confidence.
Liner
The Flylite blocker features a Connekt+ liner with stretch knuckles. This construction is designed to provide goalies with a comfortable feel while they use the blocker, and the Connekt+ also helps goalies grip their sticks while in the game. The stretch knuckles provide an additional level of support, allowing goalies to move their fingers and hands more freely, allowing for more mobility.
Sizes & Colors
The Bauer Vapor Flylite Senior Goalie Blocker is available in White/Black, White, Black, White/Blue, White/Navy, and White/Red in a regular catch hand. Additionally, this blocker comes in a full-right catch hand for those who catch with their right hand, and it is available in White.

Goalie Blockers Sizing
More times than not, the fit of your Goalie Blocker is often overlooked. This is likely the result of the limited size availability compared to other pieces of equipment, however a properly sized Blocker provides you the protection and stick control you trust.
Which Blocker Size is for you?
The first step to finding the correct Blocker size is to utilize the “heel-of-palm-to-tip-of-middle-finger” measurement. This measurement will generally send you to the appropriate size you need.
Analyzing the Blocker Fit
It is important to ensure that the fingers tips lie close to the seam of the palm, or within 0.5” if the Blocker is for a young growing goaltender. Next you want to ensure the adjustable wrist strap goes directly across the wrist bone, and has minimal to no interference with your chest protector. The goaltender should be able to swivel their wrist to accommodate a range of save selections without any restrictions from the chest protector. You also want to ensure that the goalie can maintain control of their stick in addition to being able to maneuver the blocker when handling the puck.
Which Hand Do I Need?
Figuring out which hand you need for your Blocker can be slightly confusing. Goalies generally refer to themselves as "REGULAR" or "FULL RIGHT". Below is the easiest way to simplify which hand you need.
- Blocker Hands Simplified
- Regular - Blocker worn on your Right Hand
- Full Right - Blocker worn on your Left Hand
