For the first time ever, Bauer has released a protective goalie line that is specifically designed for Women. This chest & arm protector is designed to fit to the natural shapes of Women and feature many elite-level specs to keep them protected including an Aerolite sternum shield, Shocklite foam, and CURV reinforcements throughout the protector.
External Material
This protector’s lightweight comfort on the ice is combined with maximum defense against impacts thanks to its dual-layer design, which is enhanced by SHOCK-LITE technology. With its cutting-edge hybrid tuck in/out/both belly system and 360-degree coverage, this protector offers a customizable fit and flexibility to match your playing style. The nylon finish gives this cutting-edge goalie equipment strength and a stylish appearance.
Internal Construction
Inside the protector, we see that the spine is protected with an Airflow spinal protection. This design allows for top-notch protection in the key areas as well as aeration throughout the back. The sternum is also covered with Aerolite shield, which is designed with HD foams to provide elite coverage from impacts, keeping goalie protected.
Shoulder Caps
The Fly-W shoulders are constructed with Shock-Lite Pro, which offers superior impact protection and absorption. Shocklite is designed to provide a lightweight and flexible layer of protection from incoming shots and rebounds. This protector also features mobility control shoulder floaters. The floaters are low-profile and sit off the shoulder, simultaneously making the goalie look big while lessening direct impact from shots.
Adjustable Arms
Inside the arms, there is also a dynamic 3-point flex system which allows for optimal arm rotation so goalies aren’t feeling restricted while wearing the chest protector. The arm system is also reinforced with CURV which provides goalies with a durable material to provide an extra layer of protection.
Elbow Caps
The elbows are protected with Shocklite padding which provides a lightweight and flexible layer of protection to the elbow from incoming shots and impacts. The elbow caps also feature a Thermocore Zero liner which is designed to wick away moisture and keep the elbow dry and cool while on the ice.
Bicep & Forearm Protection
The arms are protected with reinforced floating CURV with Shocklite foam. The integration of CURV allows for a durable material to protect goalies from impact, while Shocklite is added throughout the arms to provide an extra layer of coverage.

Goalie Chest Protector Sizing
Sizing a chest protector is important to ensure the goaltenders range of motion is uninhibited, while still offering complete coverage from impact. There are steps necessary to finding the right fit in your chest protector, and the first is to know your measurements. Here at The Hockey Shop, we like to use two measurements: torso length and arm span. Once you have these two measurements, match your measurements to our sizing charts.
Sizing your Chest Protector
After receiving your chest protector, you are going to want to check if the size fits the following criteria:
- 1. The arms end just before your wrist. This is important because you want to ensure that the wrist portion of the arms do not interfere with your blocker and catcher—this still provides adequate growing room for the blocker and trapper, which usually last you 1 to 2 years. Depending on the model, adjustable arms may be an offered feature, which is an added bonus for goaltenders that are still growing.
2. Your elbows fit securely in to the pocket of the elbow protection, and do not shift too far away from them. Keep in mind, arms usually have to be adjusted while putting on your chest & arm. Use the adjustable arm features where given to give you an optimal fit.
3. Make sure the shoulders of the chest & arm are sitting comfortably atop, and wrapped around your shoulders. This can be seen visually by looking at the collar of the chest & arm. You want the collar to sit slightly above your clavicle, but not too high that it interferes with the bottom of your goalie mask.
Each brand of chest & arms will have not only a different shape, but also a slightly different fit. We highly recommend having one of our Goalie Specialists to assist you in optimizing the fit of your Chest Protector. If you can't make it into the store, give us a call so we can walk you through it.
