New for 2021, the Bauer Vapor 3X Senior Goalie Blocker brings a great value to goalies through the use of high-end technologies in a proven design. A thin, beveled board packed with Bauer’s proprietary Curv composite provides a balanced blocker with active rebounds.
External Material
Bauer uses their synthetic leather with C.O.R.Tech skin on the new Vapor 3X blocker, this promotes harder, faster rebound than normal blocker skin especially when combined with the harder, denser boards seen on Bauers blockers.
Internal Construction
The blocker board of the 3X features a blend of high density foam and Curv composite. HD foam and Curv in the blocker create a stiff, rigid board. This allows the puck to come off the blocker harder than traditional foams that deaden upon impact.
Palm Material
The palm of the 3X is Bauer’s 14.5” Connekt palm. The 14.5” sizing is a slightly shrunk down size reducing excess material to create a more snug fit. Connekt is a similar material to that found in the Hyperlite blocker; it’s a soft, durable material that gives the Hyperlite blocker a comfortable feel on the hand while enhancing the stick feel through the palm.
Side Hand Protection
Similar to the Hyperlite blocker, the 3X uses a thin composite material sewn and laced into the face of the blocker. The composite reinforcement is meant to be stiff while also being ergonomically shaped in order to fit closely to the body without interfering with the chest guard.
Cuff
The cuff of the 3X is made up of asymmetrical Aerolite foam. Aerolite is a protective foam that is incredibly lightweight. Bauer has designed this cuff asymmetrically, to promote full wrist mobility when making saves and playing the puck.
Hand Protection
The back of the fingertips have foam added to them to give a bit of extra protection. Each finger with the exception of the index is individually velcro adjustable while the thumb protector uses a molded guard to absorb the impact of sidewall shots. A velcro removable pad is located by the index finger that helps to stop pucks from riding up the stick injuring the goalie's hand.

More times than not, the fit of your Goalie Blocker is often overlooked. This is likely the result of the limited size availability compared to other pieces of equipment, however a properly sized Blocker provides you the protection and stick control you trust.
Which Blocker Size is for you?
The first step to finding the correct Blocker size is to utilize the “heel-of-palm-to-tip-of-middle-finger” measurement. This measurement will generally send you to the appropriate size you need.
Analyzing the Blocker Fit
It is important to ensure that the fingers tips lie close to the seam of the palm, or within 0.5” if the Blocker is for a young growing goaltender. Next you want to ensure the adjustable wrist strap goes directly across the wrist bone, and has minimal to no interference with your chest protector. The goaltender should be able to swivel their wrist to accommodate a range of save selections without any restrictions from the chest protector. You also want to ensure that the goalie can maintain control of their stick in addition to being able to maneuver the blocker when handling the puck.
Which Hand Do I Need?
Figuring out which hand you need for your Blocker can be slightly confusing. Goalies generally refer to themselves as "REGULAR" or "FULL RIGHT". Below is the easiest way to simplify which hand you need.
