Fit

The most important thing for any hockey player when purchasing a helmet is how well it fits, and then a close second, how it looks. The Warrior Krown PX3 excels in both of these areas, but for now, let's focus on the fit. As with the previous Krown, the PX3 features the 4-Play design where all the adjustments are made using one dial located at the back of the helmet.

This allows you to change the size of the helmet making it smaller or larger depending on your head size. This eliminates any negative space and gaps in coverage. A better fit equals increased protection, and the Warrior Krown PX3 understands this concept and nails it to a tee. The single adjustment mechanism is quick and easy, literally taking seconds to adjust. You don’t waste time fiddling around with clips, screws or flaps like many other helmets on the market.

The 4-Play (that’s right, we said 4-Play…) adjustment pulls the back of the helmet around the back of the head, while pulling the front of the helmet in close adjusting the length. Honestly, the PX3 has one of the nicest systems we’ve ever seen, do to its ease of use.

Liner

For the liner of the helmet, Warrior opted to use three different foams in order to provide an elite level of protection, comfort, as well as durability. The use of the different foams helps protect against high and low level impacts during gameplay. The first layer of foam is constructed from EPP foam to take the large brunt of an impact and dissipates it before it reaching your head.

The second layer of foam is constructed from VN, this offers the wearer a more traditional fitting helmet with an increase in protection over other types of foams.

The use of soft touch foams in conjunction with the two previously mentioned types help increase impact protection, while still providing an overall exceptional comfort level.

Looks

Overall the Krown PX3 looks great with its sleek, low profile design. It provides excellent airflow throughout, keeping your head cool during gameplay. Speaking of airflow, the helmet has two large grills at the front of the helmet with two openings at the top of the helmet on both sides. This allows air to exhaust at the back, keeping you cool throughout the game. During our testing, we felt that the PX3 had excellent airflow, equal to or greater than the other top-end offerings on the market.
