CCM Super Tacks 2.0 Stick Review
Availability: In Stock Now
Riding on the success of the Super Tacks stick, CCM has produced a worthy successor to their sniper’s stick. A product of CCM’s research in conjunction with the University of Calgary, CCM dialled in improvements to an already great stick and brought some state-of-the-art technology to the forefront of your shooting. We at the shop are incredibly impressed and excited by the new materials and refinements made to a stick we really loved.
Sigmatex – Performance and Durability Combined
CCM’s new partnership with Sigmatex – a global leader in performance composite fiber – has given them access to a high-grade, ultra-lightweight carbon fabric typically used in race cars and military equipment. The quality of the carbon fiber, as well as Sigmatex tried-and-tested carbon weave lends an incredible amount of responsive performance and strength to the stick.
Coupled with a redesigned taper designed for better responsiveness and better puck feel, the CCM Super Tacks 2.0 stick has been re-engineered to become more efficient and effective through the wide range of shots players have in their arsenal, providing a greater sense of control and feel throughout your game.
Unmatched Accuracy
One aspect of the Super Tacks that made it so popular was the accuracy of the blade. The extremely stiff blade with its unique material layup made for a very accurate, controlled shot. CCM improved upon this with their Acu2 Blade, layered with Sigmatex to further improve accuracy and puck feel, all while really bumping up that blade durability to help protect against those fractures and chips from hard use.
The blade has been a key component to the new and improved Super Tacks 2.0 stick, with research by the University of Calgary showing a significant reduction of shot spread and increase in pinpoint accuracy through dozens of trials with pros and amateur players alike. When it comes to accuracy and control, CCM is unmatched in this aspect of performance.
The Intangibles – CCM’s Player-centric Approach
Small changes to CCM’s stick category come with the introduction of the Super Tacks 2.0 stick. Younger players on the fence between Junior and Intermediate sticks can now make the transition an easier one with CCM’s 55 Flex Intermediate sticks, providing an easier stepping stone for our young prospects and makes their progression through their growth in the game a much smoother one.
CCM also (re)introduced a new curve in the form of the P30, a closed mid curve with little inspirations from the old Iginla curve. A moderate “happy medium” style curve that provides a great platform for passing and stickhandling; combined with a closed face gives superior control with shots. On a market dominated by open curves, the P30 is a great option for players who loved more closed-faced curves, or for a player looking for a good jack-of-all-trades curve offering the most control over their game.
Final Thoughts
Every component of the Super Tacks 2.0, from materials, to construction, to flex and curve choices, really reflected CCM’s philosophy of products created to fill the needs of players. From the refinement of the flex profile, to the upgrade in aerospace-grade carbon fiber used in the construction of the stick, this is a product we’re excited to have in store and to have in your hands, and is definitely a worthy next step in the Tacks family of equipment.
