CCM RIBCOR Trigger 4 Pro Stick Review
CCM’s newest edition of the Trigger series brings us the CCM Trigger 4 Pro. Its’ predecessor, the CCM RibCor Trigger 3D, was known for its incredibly quick release point and the same can be said for this years Trigger 4 Pro. The Trigger 4 Pro introduces a new ergonomic shape that was tested with top pro players to make the stick feel unreal in your hands. Additionally, the combination of X-Flow molding technology and Sigmatex fabric make this year’s stick extremely lightweight and durable. The Trigger 4 Pro will follow the same path as its predecessors and be known for its deadly combination of durability, dexterity, and release speed.
X-Flow Technology
After seeing successful results of the X-Flow Technology in the Trigger 3D and the Super Tacks AS1 Stick, CCM again used this molding process when putting the Trigger 4 Pro’s together. This advanced molding technology eliminates excess resin and space within the stick, creating improved shaft quality, consistency and durability. A bonus is the same technology also helps to reduce the weight of the overall stick to 394 grams making it the first sub 400-gram RibCor to date.
Ergonomic Shaft
CCM completed extensive testing with elite hockey players when coming up with the shaft design for the Trigger 4 Pro. The result…a new advanced ergonomic design put together by the CCM Performance Lab that feels comfortable in your hands. The asymmetrical taper of the shaft increases accuracy, shaft durability, and creates that famous RibCor low kick point for deadly fast shots.
Agility Blade
The agility blade is new blade technology that introduces a softer feel while still generating a quick and accurate shot. This blade is perfect for the goal scorer who likes to be deceptive and unpredictable but needs to know that the puck will go exactly where they intend it to – and quickly.
Sigmatex Spread Tow
Every single thing about the Trigger 4 Pro points to three main things – stick weight, durability, and strength. Sigmatex is what allows this to be so. Since the Trigger 2, CCM has used Sigmatex technology in all three CCM stick lines because it makes the sticks particularly lightweight while still amazingly strong. What more could you ask for from this high-tension weaving process?
Optimized RibCor Low Kick
We’ve come to know that RibCor is now synonymous with the low kick point that most players prefer when looking for a hard, quick release. The Trigger 4 Pro provides the same kick point RibCor fans have fallen in love with over the years while still not compromising any shaft integrity. This is accomplished through the combination of the ergonomic design along with the Sigmatex Spread Tow technology.
Final Thoughts
The Agility Blade is definitely an exciting new feature that has been implemented into the RibCor line that was already known for incredibly quick releases with its predecessor. Further advancements with the Sigmatex material also helps this years Trigger 4 Pro be more durable and the lightest RibCor to date. I was able to get my hands on this stick and test it out for a limited time. What I found is a great puck feel on the blade along with a comfortable feel in your hands due to the ergonomic shaft design. The low kick is quite evident when taking shots, and for those who prefer a low kick I’d say it is absolutely one of the best in its class. If you’re a RibCor fan, or even someone looking for a change, come by the shop and test out the Trigger 4 Pro in our shooting room to see for yourself.
