CCM Jetspeed FT1 Hockey Skates Review
Availability: In-Stock Now
CCM has released their Jetspeed FT1 skate, and we got a first look at the successor to the highly successful Jetspeed line. The new generation of skates takes cues from the R&D advancements found in their Super Tacks skate, while retaining the tapered, comfort fit Jetspeed users have come to know and love.
First Impressions
I was very impressed with the current Jetspeed skate line, being a prime example of CCM’s commitment to producing equipment driven by the needs of its players. The new Jetspeed FT1 skate follows the same line of growth, resulting in a lightweight, technology-infused skate. The graphic package on the skate drew influences from the Super Tacks skate, and really brought out that slick, aggressive look that CCM skates have become known for – a look that I have always liked. Another cool thing that CCM has done is to incorporate a fully embossed logo. This eliminates weight, but the look of the enlarged CCM logo is really eye catching.
The boot itself has also been optimized in its stiffness. The Liteframe 360 frame retains the stiff lateral support that we’ve come to expect from high-end skates, while maximizing range of motion and flexibility with its modern-cut boot, eyelet pattern, and heat-moldable tongue; giving you stiffness and support where needed, without limiting your agility or motion in each skating stride.
Tritech Tongue
Unique to the Jetspeed FT1 is the new Tritech Tongue and Lacebite Pad. Unlike the injected pro-style lacebite pad found in previous CCM skates, the new tongue has a heat-moldable lacebite pad insert that molds to the skater’s feet and high ankles; all on top of a pro-style thick felt tongue. This increases the comfort and customizability of the new skates, further eliminating negative space in the boot.
Speedblade 4.0 and Hyperglide Steel
Making a return is CCM’s Speedblade 4.0 holder and Hyperglide steel, a combination known for its durability and stiffness. By minimizing friction and torque through the holder and steel, players transfer more energy through the boot in each stride, and maximize the efficiency in their skating. The holders’ taller profile and attack angle allows the skater to turn tighter and harder before bottoming out, making it easier to get those power pushes and deep strides through your crossovers and turns.
Final Thoughts
The new Jetspeed FT1 skates look to be a huge step in skate progress, retaining the great fit of the Jetspeed line that its users have come to know and love, while pushing the envelope with technology and heat-moldability that enhances the fit and performance for all levels of players. CCM has once again shown their colours in this impressive new product, and we look forward to improving your game with this exciting new skate.
