Bauer Vapor 1X 2016 Stick Review
Availability: IN STOCK NOW
Being able to innovate on an already successful stick is no easy task. Yet, there are some nice improvements to the new Vapor 1X for 2016. Bauer has managed to maintain the strong characteristics of the original 1X and improved upon its weak points to create the 2016 version of the 1X. These improvements should help increase the lifespan of the stick while providing some additional power and accuracy to your shots. Let’s take a closer look at the differences:
Improved QRT
Starting with the biggest improvement to the new Vapor 1X, the Quick Release Technology or QRT for short, has been upgraded to increase power and durability. QRT is Bauer’s aggressive taper design that provides optimal load and recoil energy at the lower part of the shaft. This allows players to get their shots off with power, accuracy and last but not least – speed.
With it’s super low taper, this new version of the 1X also has a slightly softer flex at the kick point for an even faster release. This new Vapor 1X gets the puck off your stick faster than ever before and with even better accuracy making it perfect for those quick motion snap or slap shots.
Bauer has also improved the composite layering at the kick point for additional durability. You should be able to get more pop and life out of the new 1X than the original version.
Familiar Features
Aero-Sense II Blade Core
Bauer sticks have always had great feeling blades. A new dual density foam core construction that Bauer is calling Aero-Sense 2 gives the blade it’s light and crisp feel. This combination foam is lightweight, improving the overall balance of the stick.
The puck sticks to the blade mind-blowingly well when stickhandling and effectively reduces puck bounce on hard passes. One of our testers couldn’t explain it but swears the puck just sticks to the blade like a magnet. The blade also retains strong torsional stability for that quick release that previous Vapor sticks have been known for.
Conclusion
The new Bauer 1X is a nice upgrade without any big surprises, improving upon an already excellent stick. With a softer vertical flex at the kick point, you’ll be able to load with better efficiency and release the puck quicker than before. The strengthened kick point also improves the durability so you’ll have that long-lasting pop. We think the Vapor faithful will be impressed.
