Bauer Supreme Ultrasonic Stick: Available Now
Re-Engineered For Today's Game
The new Ultrasonic from Bauer introduces the next generation of Supreme. A lightweight, load and release stick built for the player that can’t be stopped. At 390 grams, the Ultrasonic is the same weight as the Vapor Flylite and has been engineered from top to bottom with powerful snapshots in mind. Built with ADV Sonic Taper technology, the Ultrasonic has a high kick point that maximizes energy transfer and accelerates puck release. Long story short, the Ultrasonic has incredible pop and is super fun to shoot pucks with.
Lightest Supreme Stick Ever
The big story with the Ultrasonic is that it's only 390 grams. Bauer dropped the weight of the 2020 flagship Supreme using the same technologies as the Supreme ADV. This is exciting for several reasons, but namely we love that the limited edition ADV technologies are being offered to the masses. Both Sonic Taper and ACL Technology used in the Ultrasonic helped to significantly reduce the weight of the stick. The Supreme line has been known as beeing the heavy explosive stick in Bauer's stick family - but the lightweight Ultrasonic puts an emphasis on being fast and reactive combined with maximum power.
Sonic Taper Shot Technology
The Sonic Taper originally launched with the Supreme ADV and is one of the more unique technologies we've seen. The new seven sided geometric shape allowed Bauer to remove layer of carbon fiber and improve blade stability. The "taper" is actually more of a swell as the shaft thickness increases in the lower portion of the shaft. The technology moves the kick point up the shaft and allows the shooter is load their shots much faster with hands close to together. What this does is eliminate the delay caused by transitioning from puckhandling to shooting. Being able to shoot from anywhere is so important in today's modern game.
FastCore Blade Technology
The Ultrasonic also features a brand new blade core called FastCore. The lightweight blade is constructed with ACL (Advanced Carbon Layering) technology and has a stiff perimeter foam fused with a softer energy transfer strike zone. The goal here is to avoid any blade twist, while also maximizing puck contact during the shot strike to get every ounce of power into the puck. An added bonus is improved feel when puck-handling and passing.
New Supreme Snapshot Flex Profile
The new Supreme flex profile has been optimized to boost puck velocity for all shot types. The first time I tried the Ultrasonic I was amazed by how easily I could load my snapshots. I could snap them of quick but they were also heavy shots which I loved. I was able to try a few different flexes and ultimately ended up dropping down from 87 to 77 because of how snapshots popped off with the 77 flex. The Ultrasonic is still a power profile and snapshots are ideal when loaded off the back foot with close hands releasing the puck off the front foot.
ACL x DuraFlex Resin
Advanced Carbon Layering is a technology that originally launched with the Vapor ADV and has been a driving force in creating extremely lightweight Bauer sticks. Used in both the shaft and blade it's a huge reason Bauer was able to get the UltraSonic down to 390 grams. DuraFlex resin is another material technology used and is a carryover from the 2S Pro. The resin improves durability and is used in the shaft and blade of the Ultrasonic. As with all flagship Bauer stick, the Ultrasonic is a true one-piece built with Monocomp technology.
Final Thoughts
Simply put, the Ultrasonic is in the upper echelon of composite hockey sticks ever created. Bauer has done a terrific job not only developing new technologies with the ADV program, but then incorporating them into a retail model. While puck feel and balance are important when evaluating any stick, shooting performance is king. The Ultrasonic offers exactly what the modern hockey player wants from an elite stick. It loads easily and offers an accurate and powerful release.
If you were able to get your hands on a Supreme ADV, the Ultrasonic will feel familiar. If you haven’t experienced the Sonic Taper technology, then I’d highly encourage you to give the Ultrasonic a try. For those in the area feel free to stop by and try the new Supreme lineup inside our THS Shooting Zone.
For those that prefer the traditional Supreme shot profile, the elite level 3S Pro offers the same performance as the 2S Pro at a reduced price point.
The game has evolved. It is faster than ever before and our elite athletes continue to push the envelope. If you’re looking to snipe off the half wall on the powerplay or launch a one timer from a cross crease pass in the slot the Ultrasonic has you covered. I truly believe this is one of best sticks we’ve seen to date.
