The Vaughn Velocity V9 XP INT Goalie Catcher is aimed at the intermediate goalie who wants a comfortable yet protective glove that’s easy to close right off the shelf. Vaughn uses a split “T” design that takes the deep wide appearance of a double “T” pocket and combines it with the quick, snappy feel that a single “T” offers. A lightweight mesh fingerstall construction allows for superior breathability and comfort while a built in internal grip rail on the inside of the palm allows for better grip and closure. The V9 XP Int uses neoprene lined internals in order to offer the best in breathable comfort along with the fully adjustable back hand strapping system that provides goalies with a truly customizable fit. A segmented HD foam back hand and finger tip protector rail provides good protection from all angles of the glove without losing flexibility. Compared to the V9 Int, the V9 XP Int features a one-piece cuff construction and a break angle that gives it a similar feel to a CCM 590 closure.
External Material
The V9 XP Int catcher is made out of a durable synthetic leather featuring a sharp new graphic. Vaughn uses a Hex Mesh inner lining and finger stalls for better breathability, comfort and quick drying. The interior of the finger stalls contain an internal grip rail helping goalies get a better grip on the glove allowing them to snap it shut quicker and with ease. The V9 XP Int catcher features a segmented padded nylon backhand and HD foam pad over the back of the fingers as well as a raised HD foam finger tip deflecting rail. A reinforced perimeter edge works to extend the lifespan on the V9 Int catcher.
Break Angle
The break angle of the V9 XP Int catcher is designed to feel similar to that of a CCM 590 break. It uses a new more defined break point allowing for easier closure compared to the previous VE8.
Pocket Design
The V9 XP Int uses the same split “T” design first seen on the VE8 giving the wide, deep appearance of a double “T” combined with the quick snapping closure of a single “T”.
Strapping
The quick adjust webbing wrist strap of the V9 XP Int features added padding for better comfort while a neoprene material is used on the inner back hand allowing for good grip and breathability. The internals of the V9 XP Int catcher feature a velcro adjustable elastic strap that sits over the back of the fingers while another velcro adjustable strap controls the tightness of the neoprene back hand piece.
Cuff Design
The V9 XP Int catcher utilizes a true one-piece cuff while a bindingless construction is used in order to maximize the blocking surface. A wide, open cuff design allows the V9 XP Int catcher to sit comfortably in any goalies stance no matter their glove position.
Colors
The Vaughn Velocity V9 XP Intermediate Goalie Catcher comes in four standard colour options including All White, White/Red, White/Black, and White/Blue.

Goalie Catcher Sizing
More times than not, the fit of your Goalie Catcher is often overlooked. This is likely the result of the limited size availability compared to other pieces of equipment, however a properly sized Catcher provides you the protection and stick control you trust.
Which Catcher Size is for you?
The first step to finding the correct Catcher size is to utilize the “heel-of-palm-to-tip-of-middle-finger” measurement. This measurement will generally send you to the appropriate size you need.
Analyzing the Catcher Fit
It is important to make sure the palm lines up properly within the catching glove, so that it can be closed without excessive force. New goalie gloves will be difficult to close initially, but through either a standard break-in process, or "baking" the catcher with our in-house convection skate ovens, they will soften over time.
*We do not recommend using any conventional in-home ovens, as the results have been very unpredictable in the past and could damage your Catcher.*
Next you want to ensure the adjustable wrist strap goes directly across the wrist bone, and has minimal to no interference with your chest protector. The goaltender should be able to swivel their wrist to accommodate a range of save selections without any restrictions from the chest protector.
Sizing for Growing Goaltenders
For growing goaltenders we recommend following the guidelines set above, rather than sizing up to accommodate growth. Oversized goalie gloves restrict control, especially for young developing goalies. As you climb the size ladder for Catchers, typically the glove requires more strength for pocket closure.
Which Hand Do I Need?
Figuring out which hand you need for your Catcher can be slightly confusing. Goalies generally refer to themselves as "REGULAR" or "FULL RIGHT". Below is the easiest way to simplify which hand you need.
- Goalie Catcher Hands Simplified
- Regular - Catcher worn on your Left Hand
- Full Right - Catcher worn on your Right Hand
