The Warrior Alpha DX line is Warrior’s new line for the 2019/20 season. It offers a dynamic strike fit which is designed to be low-profile and offer a superior fit and mobility compared to previous lines.

The DX3 also utilizes a vented internal jacket and a two-piece sternum to keep the pads mobile, lightweight and cool.

Shoulder Caps
The shoulder caps of the Alpha DX3 feature a low-profile plastic cap covered with foam. These caps are designed to move with the body, and stay in-place during impacts to ensure you are protected.

Sternum Protection
The base of the Alpha DX3 uses a ventilated jacket to allow airflow through the pad keeping them lightweight, mobile and cool. On the outside of this jacket, Warrior provides compression molded foam and dual density foam to keep you safe.

Spine Protection
The spinal protection of the DX3 also features dual density foam. This foam is segmented to form around the body better when strapped tight

Bicep Protection
The bicep guards on the Alpha DX3 uses molded dual density foam to keep you protected. The pads are pre-formed with a curve to sit against you body and can be adjusted in height to find the level that is just right for you.

Liner
The yellow Strike liner in the Alpha DX3 helps to keep you dry by wicking moisture away from your body while playing - similar to a base layer shirt under your gear.

Abdominal Protection Piece
The Alpha DX3 offers a removable abdominal protection piece for added customizability. This piece extends further down the stomach and can provide additional protection for taller, or growing players.

Sizes
The Warrior Alpha DX3 junior shoulder pads are available in Small, Medium and Large.

Warrior Shoulder Pads Fit

In comparison to other brands, Warrior shoulder pads will fit more snug. Using 2-timer adjustable straps and an axy-sym fit, Warrior fits the pads as tight to the body as possible and maintain a snug fit around the sides and chest.

At The Hockey Shop, we believe a shoulder pad should ultimately offer you’re the protection you need, in addition to being mobile and comfortable. Some preference is involved in the overall fit of the pad, but we find sizing the pads based on a chest measurement is a very accurate measure. Once you have this measurement, you can match to the sizing charts.

Player Shoulder Pad Sizing

Sizing before Purchase

To fit for a properly sized shoulder pad, you will need a soft tape measurer to measure and record your chest measurement. To do this, find the widest point of your chest (usually just below your armpits) and measure the circumference. Record the measurement in inches and compare to the available sizing charts in each brand. Also compare your height, weight and age to find your best fit.

Sizing after Purchase

Once you have received your new shoulder pad, stand in front of a mirror and strap them on. You will want to check the follow criteria to ensure a proper and protective fit:

1. The tips of your shoulder are sitting directly under the middle of the shoulder cap. If you are checking sizing for a child, it is ok for the tips of their shoulder to be under the inner half of the cap.

  • This is important because if the shoulder cap does not sit in the correct position, your clavicles, shoulders, and upper arms can become more susceptible to injury.
2. The bicep guards are positioned maximum halfway down the upper arm.
  • Adjust the bicep guards using the Velcro straps located underneath the shoulder caps (if applicable). At the highest point, the bicep guards should not be more than halfway down the upper arm. This is important because they can interfere with your elbow pads, throwing off the fit.

If you are checking sizing for a child, it is ok for the tips of their shoulder to be under the inner half of the cap and not directly in line with the middle.
