The CCM FitLITE 90 Hockey Helmet offers elite level protection wrapped in a good-looking high-density PE shell. The fit of the Fitlite 90 follows the Fitlite 3DS, as opposed to the FL60 or FL40 helmets, which offers good volume and a more snug fit on the sides of the head. In addition to the improved fit, the FL90 uses an integrated microdial at the occipital lobe to provide an optimal fit and custom wrap around the head.
On the inside of the helmet the Fitlite 90 provides an I.Q.Shion comfort liner and D3O smart material to provide protection. The D3O smart material offers elite level protection, by changing its state at a molecular level to disperse impacts at various energy levels. At low impacts the smart material is soft and provides cushion. as a foam would. But when struck harder, the smart material hardens on impact to dissipate the energy before it transfers to your head.
The I.Q.Shion liner integrates with the D3O material and provides both comfort and protection. The memory foam feels great on the head and ensures a snug fit when used with the microdial, but also has good impact properties.

The Fitlite line models the same fit as its Reebok predecessors. These helmets tend to fit wider on the sides and shorter in length. The fit is more circular in shape and will fit players whose head are more round.
Sizing before Purchase
To fit for your proper sized helmet you will need a soft tape measure. Take this tape measure and have another person snugly wrap it around your head at the largest point, usually just above the eyebrows (see left). Record this measurement of circumference and compare it to the available sizing charts in the brand of helmet you are looking at.
Sizing after Purchase
To ensure a good fit after you have received your proper sized helmet, flip open and unlock the helmet clip(s) and slide the helmet to its last and largest setting. Position it on the head so the rim is one finger width above the eyebrow. Gradually begin to downsize the helmet, pressing on the front and back until a comfortable, snug fit is achieved. Lock the helmet into this size by pressing down and closing the locking adjustment(s). Look in a mirror while wearing the helmet to make sure the ear guards are covering at least half of your ear and to make sure the helmet does not appear to be shifting back and forth on your head.
It is recommended to use a mouth guard although not required. It is recommended that players wear HECC and CE Certified helmets and in Hockey Canada sanctioned leagues it is required for helmets to be CSA approved. CSA, HECC and CE Certified stickers are fixed to the helmets indicating their certification.
