Brand new for 2018 Bauer's research and development team has released the RE-AKT 95. This elite level helmet is the hybrid of all hybrids building from the IMS 9.0 and IMS 11.0. The RE-AKT 95 helmet structure has been designed for an optimal fit profile to keep you at the top of your game.
The new RE-AKT 95 helmet features four of Bauer's premier foam technologies all with a unique purpose and design. The VTX foam liner is 31% lighter than traditional EPP foam, and 18% better at dissipating impacts. The VTX foam is located in the base of the helmet, easily identified by the blue VTX graphics. In addition, the XRD dual layer temple pads provide both comfort and high impact protection, perfect for arduous battles in the corners. Furthermore, the SUSPEND-TECH Liner system, also found in the RE-AKT helmet, allows for slight movement during shearing impacts. Instead of locking your head to the helmet, the liner allows the helmet to absorb some of the twisting movement. This soft foam liner also offers moisture channels to promote cooling and wick away sweat while competing.
Another great amenity to the RE-AKT 95 helmet is the tool free adjustment and new occipital locking device. The locking adjustment switch is located on the top of the helmet which relieves the clunky, hard to hold adjustment concerns from its predecessors. The new occipital foam padding lock is positioned at the rear base of the helmet. The spring-loaded system allows the padding to expand or contract, adjusting to your specific occipital shape.

Hockey Helmet Sizing
Bauer Hockey Helmet Fit
These helmets tend to fit narrower in width and very standard in length. Bauer helmets tend to be a very middle of the road approach in shape and fit a large majority of heads. For players that have a narrower head these helmets will be very comfortable.
Sizing before Purchase
To fit for your proper sized helmet you will need a soft tape measure. Take this tape measure and have another person snugly wrap it around your head at the largest point, usually just above the eyebrows (see left). Record this measurement of circumference and compare it to the available sizing charts in the brand of helmet you are looking at.
Sizing after Purchase
To ensure a good fit after you have received your proper sized helmet, flip open and unlock the helmet clip(s) and slide the helmet to its last and largest setting. Position it on the head so the rim is one finger width above the eyebrow. Gradually begin to downsize the helmet, pressing on the front and back until a comfortable, snug fit is achieved. Lock the helmet into this size by pressing down and closing the locking adjustment(s). Look in a mirror while wearing the helmet to make sure the ear guards are covering at least half of your ear and to make sure the helmet does not appear to be shifting back and forth on your head.
It is recommended to use a mouth guard although not required. It is recommended that players wear HECC and CE Certified helmets and in Hockey Canada sanctioned leagues it is required for helmets to be CSA approved. CSA, HECC and CE Certified stickers are fixed to the helmets indicating their certification.
