New for 2022 is Warrior’s continuation of their Ritual M-series, the M2 Pro+ goalie stick. This ultra-lightweight, elite-level goalie stick features a number of Warrior's top stick features, including their Minimus Carbon 25 weave, SlideGrip technology, HiFused construction, and Impact Fibre layer in the shaft. Warrior kept what worked in the M2’s predecessors while upgrading the construction and materials for better performance.
Shaft Construction
Warrior continues to increase durability by including an Impact Fibre layer on the shaft. The use of a HiFused construction gives the stick its ultra lightweight feel and balance. In addition to these features in the shaft, the stick is made with Warrior’s Minimus Carbon 25 weave, which is tough and lightweight for unparalleled playability and feel.
Paddle Construction
The R/M2 Pro+ paddle has an innovative, geometric design to enhance the energy load from the paddle through to the low kick point of the stick. The beauty of the Ritual M-series is in its remarkable balance and playability, and the M2 Pro+ has taken that legacy to the next level with its integration of a Minimus Carbon 25 weave into the previous M1’s build. This upgraded carbon fibre construction works with the geometry to augment your energy load and give you better control when taking shots and passes.
Blade Construction/Stiffness
We already touched on the Minimus Carbon 25 a few times here, but it also contributes greatly to the blade of the M2 Pro+. Originally developed to cover and support the Alpha LX Pro’s blade core on the player side, the Minimus Carbon 25 weave further enhances durability in the blade and makes it both stronger and lighter than ever. The M1 already had extraordinary dampening and deflecting properties, and the M2 looks to build on its heritage and more.
Graphics
The Warrior R/M2 Pro+ keeps to that really clean matte finish with a few colour adjustments. Notably, around the SlideGrip, the signature teal, green, and yellow hash pattern graphic has been extended upwards in spikes along the shaft. The pattern has also become more gradual down toward the paddle, the latter of which now adorning silver accents rather than just a black matte colouration. The Minimus Carbon 25 weave is also visible in the form of squares along the entire stick. “R/M2 Pro+” and “Warrior” have been printed along both the shaft and the paddle in silver.
Grip
The stick features SureGrip technology at the top of the paddle for better hold and control with the stick. It has a textured surface that improves feel and allows for faster hand transitions.
Blade Patterns, Paddle Lengths, Stick Lengths, Weight, Level of Play
The Warrior Ritual M2 Pro+ Intermediate Goalie Stick is ideal for the elite-level goalie and has a 23.5”-long paddle length. It is available in the following blade patterns: Mid (Quick, W32) and Twist (Bishop, W33).

Goalie Stick Sizing Information
Unlike other pieces of gear, Goalie Sticks are sized mostly to the goaltender’s preference and playing style rather than their height. The most important measurement, when purchasing a new goal stick, is the paddle height (the wide portion of the stick), which is usually taken from the heel of the stick to the shaft/paddle interface. The reason for the paddle height’s significance is because it sets up the goaltender’s depth in the ready stance and (if properly sized) positions the blocker in an optimal position.
Sizing Your Goalie Stick
To start analyzing the size of your goalie stick, put on your goalie skates to get an accurate height of where you will be in your stance. If you’re looking to be even more accurate, strap on your goalie pads and blocker as well. Once that is done, get comfortable in your natural stance (the one you’d be in during a majority of gameplay) and look for the following:
1. The entire blade of the stick is flush with the ground while being 1’ - 2’ in front of your feet
2. After getting your stick into the flush position, check that the inside edge of the blocker hand sits on the outside edge of the goal pad (this is while holding just above the paddle).
Goalie Stick Sizing Considerations
Goalie Stick sizing can be very subjective compared to other pieces of equipment. The reason for this is the ambiguity of each goaltenders ‘natural stance’, especially with younger goaltenders. It is rather common for children to use taller sticks in comparison to their height, as their stance depth isn’t usually as aggressive as a seasoned goalie.
The shaft length of a goalie stick is usually best left at its stock length, as it serves to counteract the weight of the blade and ideally place the center of gravity at the top of the paddle. The one exception to this rule is for advanced puck handlers, cutting the shaft will allow more power transfer when shooting as a result of being able to keep the blade flush to the ice while near the goaltender’s feet.
