Intro & New Features
Warrior debuts their newest Covert hockey glove line in 2022 with the launch of the QR5 Pro. This high-end glove builds off what worked on the previous QRE 10 and features various new and returning tech, including an AXYFlex cuff and thumb, Covert Taper Fit 2.0, EXO+ foam, and Smartpalm+ technology. The QR5 Pro is a nice demonstration of Warrior’s advancements in making a glove that offers not only the highest-end protection, but also superior mobility.
External Material
The exterior of the glove is covered similarly to how it was before, with tough and light polyester coupled with strategically placed synthetic leather. The combination of the two ensures the glove stays intact longer while adding extra security to an area that traditionally gets a decent beating. The glove also uses an updated Covert Taper Fit 2.0, which designs the glove to fit snugly around your hand like a second skin. Likewise, the cuff wraps around your wrist in a similar manner.
Finger Design & Protection
The glove is equipped with three-piece index and middle fingers, along with traditional two-piece ring and pinky fingers. Inside the fingers, you will find Warrior’s EXO+ foam coupled with plastic shield inserts, which are responsible for keeping your hand well-protected. EXO+ Protect technology is a returning mechanism that is ideal for shielding against any slashes and impact force you may experience on the ice.
Backhand Protection
The backhand, similar to the fingers, also employs EXO+ foam technology with plastic inserts for truly elite protection. Warrior implemented their anatomical stretch backhand into the Pro glove, which is a design that moves with you while you play. This construction also contributes to the gloves’ “buttersoft feel.”
Thumb Design
For superior mobility in the thumb, the QR5 Pro employs an AXYFlex thumb. Mobility is very important to the Covert line, and the AXYFlex thumb fits right into that mold. Its two-piece construction and foam mesh gussets enable it to achieve this feature.
Cuff Design
Warrior reintroduces their AXYFlex cuff back into the QR5 Pro from the QRE 10, which is a floating cuff attached by soft mesh netting. It is not surprising that Warrior would incorporate some lacrosse technology into their hockey gear, since they are well known for their lacrosse gear as well. The AXYFlex cuff is designed to hug your wrist while allowing you to move with full range of motion. It gives the gloves that light and loose lacrosse glove feel while still keeping you fully covered for hockey.
Palm Material & Gussets
The Covert QR5 Pro uses Smartpalm+ with a Clarino HAR reinforcement right along where the stick comes in contact with the gloves. Smartpalm+ makes a comeback from the previous QRE 10 and continues to do a great job making you feel more connected to your stick. Clarino HAR is also returning, which is an abrasion-resistant reinforcement that feels soft and comfortable while slowing down wear and tear on the palm. Classic Lycra gussets are used in the glove, as well as foam mesh gussets in the thumb.
Liner
That game-ready, buttersoft feel you get from the gloves comes from the soft liner, responsive gussets, and mobility tech in the fingers, thumb, and cuff. The gloves use a WarTech FNC liner, powered by Polygiene, to keep you feeling dry and fresh all throughout the game.
Sizes & Colors
The Warrior Covert QR5 Pro Senior Hockey Glove comes in sizes 13”, 14”, and 15”, and the following colourways: Black, Black/Red/White, Navy/Red/White, Navy, and Red.

Player Glove Sizing
To ensure you're purchasing the proper sized glove, one simple measurement using a measuring tape is all it takes to accurately find your size. Place the tip of the tape measure at the top of your middle finger (or which finger is longest) and measure all the way down to the bottom of your palm. Record this measurement and multiply by two. This will be roughly the size of glove you need. Compare your height, weight and age to the charts provided on each model as well to find your best fit.
Sizing Hockey Gloves (Growing Players)
If you are including growing room in the glove for a young player, always round the measurement up to the next whole number (ex. 3.2” x 2 = 6.4” -> 7”).
Making Sure Your Hockey Gloves Fit (Growing Players)
To ensure hockey gloves fit properly for a growing hockey player, have them place their hands in the glove with their palms facing up. Have the player place their hand inside the glove as they would if they were wearing the glove in a normal situation. Take your index finger and put it between the top of the player's palm and the edge of the cuff. Typically you want no more room than the width of your index finger.
You also want to have the player press their fingers against the palm so you can see the outlines. Make sure their pinky finger is at least 3/4” of the way into the pinky slot of the glove finger. To determine if the glove is too small, take your fingers and feel along the inner cuff of the glove just after the palm material. Make sure the player’s palm is not spilling over the material and onto the cuff. You also want to look at the fingers of the glove, and make sure the player’s fingers to fit in each finger slot, but they should not be pressed up against the edge or touching the gussets.
Sizing Hockey Gloves (Full-Grown Players)
When sizing for true size (no growth room) using the above measurement, round measurements less than 0.5 down to the next whole number. If the measurement ends in .5 or higher, round up to the nearest whole number.
Making Sure Your Hockey Gloves Fit (Full-Grown Players)
To ensure your hockey gloves fit properly, you want to take a look at two things.
