Intro & New Features

New for 2024, Vaughn presents another installment in the SLR series. The SLR4 Pro blocker comes with a range of high-performance features, including QuickSlide, an ergonomically shaped dual-layered palm, and a full pro, no-binding construction. The SLR4 series is engineered specifically to optimize performance in the butterfly position.

External Material

The SLR4 Pro blocker uses classic jenpro synthetic leather on the exterior. Jenpro is well-known for its superior durability and performance. Vaughn’s QuickSlide has been added to the bottom edge to protect that area from wear and tear and increase sliding ability on the stick. Nylon mesh can be found on the cuff and thumb for good breathability in those areas. The board has a bindingless construction, increasing blocking space.

Internal Construction

Extra stiffness in the top board increases precision while deflecting the puck. The inside is made of high-density foam for good blocking and to deaden impact force as it reaches your hand. The use of HD foam also makes the blocker very lightweight.

Palm Material

The palm is ergonomically shaped and double-layered for good durability. It is outfitted with a cushion padding to minimize vibrations when impact hits the stick, and the new palm overlay enhances stick feel, in addition to wicking away moisture.

Side Hand Protection

To increase stiffness and control on rebounds further, the side shield on the SLR4 Pro blocker overlaps the front board. An HD foam insert has been applied to the side shield as well for good protection and to keep that area balanced with the rest of the blocker’s light weight.

Cuff

The SLR4 uses a flex-style cuff to allow for freedom of movement when making quick saves. The wrist opening is large for a better range of motion, and the top board has been optimized for rebound control and covering space. It flares out for improved deflection management. The adjustable wrist strap makes it easy to fix the cuff area to fit your wrist size and shape.

Hand Protection

Complementing the extra coverage given with the SLR4 gear, the blocker comes with a good amount of hand and finger protection without sacrificing movement. The fingers are reinforced with two-piece finger protectors made of HD foam, and the thumb has been supported with a soft cushion pad. The finger protectors are molded dimensionally for better coverage and protection against painful vibrations.

Goalie Blockers Sizing

More times than not, the fit of your Goalie Blocker is often overlooked. This is likely the result of the limited size availability compared to other pieces of equipment, however a properly sized Blocker provides you the protection and stick control you trust.

Which Blocker Size is for you?
The first step to finding the correct Blocker size is to utilize the “heel-of-palm-to-tip-of-middle-finger” measurement. This measurement will generally send you to the appropriate size you need.

Analyzing the Blocker Fit
It is important to ensure that the fingers tips lie close to the seam of the palm, or within 0.5” if the Blocker is for a young growing goaltender. Next you want to ensure the adjustable wrist strap goes directly across the wrist bone, and has minimal to no interference with your chest protector. The goaltender should be able to swivel their wrist to accommodate a range of save selections without any restrictions from the chest protector. You also want to ensure that the goalie can maintain control of their stick in addition to being able to maneuver the blocker when handling the puck.

Which Hand Do I Need?
Figuring out which hand you need for your Blocker can be slightly confusing. Goalies generally refer to themselves as "REGULAR" or "FULL RIGHT". Below is the easiest way to simplify which hand you need.
