Intro & New Features

As a renowned favourite for chest and arm protectors in the NHL, Vaughn has used their knowledge and expertise in the industry to craft a series of elite goalie gear for the butterfly goalie. The SLR4 Pro chest protector comes equipped with various premium features, including a dual chest pad strapping system, adjustable large front surface shoulder floaters, and Aero-spacer mesh sleeves. The lower chest pad on the SLR4 has also been redesigned to fit better with goalie pants.

External Material

The SLR4 Pro chest pad exterior is made of nylon mesh for excellent durability and flexibility. The strong nylon weave holds the pads together while adding good ventilation all around. Aero-spacer mesh sleeves also contribute to good air ventilation and flexibility, and the material additionally makes the sleeves easier to break in.

Internal Foams

The padding in the chest protector is made of HD foams and can be found all throughout the pads. In the back shoulder, the padding was extended for greater protection in that area and to match padding extensions in the pants. The side chest pads have also been extended. The forearm padding is tapered with molded plastic to protect closer to the body, and cushion air padding on the shoulder floaters ensures the pads are light, comfortable, and offering full coverage.

Shoulder Caps

For the SLR4 Pro, Vaughn increased the surface area of the shoulder floaters across the front for better blocking. They also made the shoulder floaters adjustable in their positioning, so you can customize where you want them when you play. The shoulders themselves are light and protective, characteristics ideal for butterfly goalies, who will benefit greatly from the extra height and weight reduction.

Adjustable Arms

The arms on the SLR4 pads are tapered at the forearm with molded plastic caps for a more contoured fit. No-gap main arm floaters fit with the molded elbow caps to give a close fit. Vaughn added thicker padding in the forearm and biceps, and the flex in the main arm floaters is adjustable.

Elbow Caps

The SLR4 is equipped with four-point adjustable elbow pads for a snug fit while keeping a good range of motion. The side elbow caps are molded to fit with the no-gap main arm floaters for the same effect.

Back Straps

The velcro dual back strap is new to the SLR series and makes it easier for you to modify the size of the pads and get them fitted closer. The back is also furnished with a back spine pad and HD foam insert. This pad keeps your spine protected from unexpected impacts directed at your back and spine. The back shoulder padding has been extended for improved protection.
