Serving players since 1988.Intro & New Features
The CCM Tacks XR80 shoulder pads are a part of the new Tacks protective line in the 2026 season. The Tacks line puts an emphasis on being highly protective while not restricting mobility, allowing players to move freely while being protected from impacts. They are designed to provide exceptional protection and confidence at a lower price point, while still offering players with high-end specs in a shoulder pad.
Construction
The shoulder pads are designed with a dual-layer front construction with PE foam and a sublimated comfort lining. While being comfortable and low profile, this dual layered shoulder pad has everything you need to keep you protected at any competitive level.
Shoulder Caps & Protection
The shoulders are protected with low-profile JDP injected shoulder caps with exposed foam covers. This is a pro-level construction that disperses the impact force away from the shoulder caps.
Torso
Throughout the Torso, CCM included a compress molded front and back panels with a sublimated lining. This provides players with a comfortable feel with durable protection with the added sublimated lining.
Bicep Protection
The biceps are protected with PE-molded caps that feature height adjustments. This allows the players to have a customizable fit that is tailored to their needs. The padding is attached with a velcro strap and landing, which keeps the padding in place, allowing players to stay protected while on the ice.
Sternum & Spine Protection
The shoulder pads feature a single piece back base panel with a compress-molded PE plastic spine. This single piece back base panel provides competitive mobility and comfort while the compress-molded PE plastic spine offers maximum protection.
Liner
The inside of the shoulder pads is lined with a sublimated comfort liner. This high quality comfort lining is designed to provide players with a level of comfort while on the ice.
Clavicle
CCM designed the XR80 shoulder pads with a floating clavicle protector. It is designed to offer a competitive level of protection in the clavicle area, ensuring that players remain protected while on the ice.

Player Shoulder Pad Sizing
Sizing before Purchase
To fit for a properly sized shoulder pad, you will need a soft tape measurer to measure and record your chest measurement. To do this, find the widest point of your chest (usually just below your armpits) and measure the circumference. Record the measurement in inches and compare to the available sizing charts in each brand. Also compare your height, weight and age to find your best fit.
Sizing after Purchase
Once you have received your new shoulder pad, stand in front of a mirror and strap them on. You will want to check the follow criteria to ensure a proper and protective fit.
1. The tips of your shoulder are sitting directly under the middle of the shoulder cap. If you are checking sizing for a child, it is ok for the tips of their shoulder to be under the inner half of the cap.
- This is important because if the shoulder cap does not sit in the correct position, your clavicles, shoulders, and upper arms can become more susceptible to injury.
- Adjust the bicep guards using the Velcro straps located underneath the shoulder caps (if applicable). At the highest point, the bicep guards should not be more than halfway down the upper arm. This is important because they can interfere with your elbow pads, throwing off the fit.
If you are checking sizing for a child, it is ok for the tips of their shoulder to be under the inner half of the cap and not directly in line with the middle.
