The Tacks AS-V Youth shoulder pads are a new addition to the AS-V youth series and are designed specifically to not only look and feel like what the pros use, but also allow young players to dress themselves—just like the pros. Beyond providing the strappings to make putting on the gear easier, they are also equipped with elite-level padding to keep your child having fun while being fully protected.
Shoulder Caps & Protection
The AS-V shoulder pads are furnished with PE caps to protect small shoulders from any impact. For increased comfort in that area, CCM also reinforced the inside with PE foam.
Sternum Protection
The floating compress-molded EVA foam sternum shield provides amazing protection against any impact force that your child may face on the ice. Underneath the shield at the plexus is also the addition of D3O foam, a military-grade shock-absorbent material capable of neutralizing high levels of impact force. In addition to the protective features, the neck area has been adjusted with an E-Fit stretch neck to help young players fit their head in easily.
Spine Protection
The spine is reinforced with integrated PE foam for elite-level protection. Due to its light weight and balance, the foam will go completely unnoticed by your child while protecting their spine from harm.
Bicep Protection
The biceps have been designed for simple application, so young players can get on the ice faster and by themselves, and without the added frustration of trying to adjust bicep straps. The AS-V uses E-fit sleeves on the biceps, which are soft, stretchy, and require no adjustments; your child just needs to slip their arms into the straps, and they’re good to go! The biceps are also fully adjustable length-wise with the ADPTFit bicep adjustment to accommodate arms of all sizes.
Liner
In the AS-V Pro, the foam liner is the same as that used at the Senior and Junior levels and is extremely soft for young players. The smooth, hydrophobic properties will keep your child cool and dry while they play, enhancing their overall enjoyment of the game.
Abdominal Protection Piece
The AS-V Pro does have a fully adjustable abdominal protection piece for extra security in that area. It is comfortable and also removable, so your child can have the perfect fit on their shoulder pads.
Sizes
The Tacks AS-V Pro Youth shoulder pads come in Small, Medium, and Large sizes.

Player Shoulder Pad Sizing
Sizing before Purchase
To fit for a properly sized shoulder pad, you will need a soft tape measurer to measure and record your chest measurement. To do this, find the widest point of your chest (usually just below your armpits) and measure the circumference. Record the measurement in inches and compare to the available sizing charts in each brand. Also compare your height, weight and age to find your best fit.
Sizing after Purchase
Once you have received your new shoulder pad, stand in front of a mirror and strap them on. You will want to check the follow criteria to ensure a proper and protective fit.
1. The tips of your shoulder are sitting directly under the middle of the shoulder cap. If you are checking sizing for a child, it is ok for the tips of their shoulder to be under the inner half of the cap.
- This is important because if the shoulder cap does not sit in the correct position, your clavicles, shoulders, and upper arms can become more susceptible to injury.
- Adjust the bicep guards using the Velcro straps located underneath the shoulder caps (if applicable). At the highest point, the bicep guards should not be more than halfway down the upper arm. This is important because they can interfere with your elbow pads, throwing off the fit.
If you are checking sizing for a child, it is ok for the tips of their shoulder to be under the inner half of the cap and not directly in line with the middle.
