CCM has occupied themselves with updating one of their most successful lines of protective gear for 2022. The AS-V Pro shoulder pads feature various characteristics worthy of CCM’s highest-end label, including D3O foam, ADPTFIT, Vent-Tech, and Dual Core HD foam. With brand new graphics and science-backed tech, these pads are more than prepared to offer you premium comfort and stability. In addition to CCM’s protective upgrades, they also refurbished the anatomical design with more adjustment capabilities.
Shoulder Caps & Protection
The Dual Core HD foam caps ensure you are well-protected in the shoulder area. The caps are complete with exposed foam covers for a clean finish and pro-level padding on impact. CCM continues to use D3O foam in their protectives, including in the AS-V Pro gear. D3O foam has amazing cushioning and absorption properties, claims backed even in its use in military equipment. In the shoulder caps, the pads are equipped with D3O Aero foam on the inside, as well as visible D3O Lite Frontal Impact Pods.
Sternum Protection
The Tacks AS-V shoulder pads are equipped with multiple layers of protection over the torso and sternum. The Vent-Tech floating sternum combines aeration with elite-level coverage. The underlayer of the sternum is made of mesh for good breathability, and the middle layers incorporate both molded HD foam and D3O Smart Material. The front is covered with a molded HD foam Flexmotion base jacket with elite rib protection designed to contour around your torso.
Spine Protection
The spine is also protected from impact force using the same plastic shields and D3O foam found in the sternum area. The Vent-Tech construction permits good airflow, so your back can keep cool and comfortable while you play.
Bicep Protection
The biceps on the AS-V Pro can be adjusted in both length and width. Protective features in this area include an injected plastic 1-inch extendable guard and a foam bicep cushion. The guards can be adjusted to extend further out for maximum coverage and security, or closer in for a smaller fit. The biceps are built to help bridge that gap between your shoulder pads and elbow pads, and their adjustability gives you the freedom to wear the pads however you choose.
Liner
The AS-V Pro uses a sublimated liner and soft-feel dual-layer stretch panels for quality comfort and protection. The liners have been treated with an antimicrobial agent to keep you cool and dry, and the stretch feel panels have been engineered to move with you, ensuring that you are covered for the whole game.
Abdominal Protection Piece
The AS-V Pro does come with a removable and adjustable abdominal protection piece, attached with velcro. This piece uses the same Dual Core HD foam as the caps, as well as Vent-Tech technology to keep you cool. The Velcro adjustability covers a wide range, letting you decide how much of the pad you want to use.

Player Shoulder Pad Sizing
Sizing before Purchase
To fit for a properly sized shoulder pad, you will need a soft tape measurer to measure and record your chest measurement. To do this, find the widest point of your chest (usually just below your armpits) and measure the circumference. Record the measurement in inches and compare to the available sizing charts in each brand. Also compare your height, weight and age to find your best fit.
Sizing after Purchase
Once you have received your new shoulder pad, stand in front of a mirror and strap them on. You will want to check the follow criteria to ensure a proper and protective fit.
1. The tips of your shoulder are sitting directly under the middle of the shoulder cap. If you are checking sizing for a child, it is ok for the tips of their shoulder to be under the inner half of the cap.
- This is important because if the shoulder cap does not sit in the correct position, your clavicles, shoulders, and upper arms can become more susceptible to injury.
- Adjust the bicep guards using the Velcro straps located underneath the shoulder caps (if applicable). At the highest point, the bicep guards should not be more than halfway down the upper arm. This is important because they can interfere with your elbow pads, throwing off the fit.
If you are checking sizing for a child, it is ok for the tips of their shoulder to be under the inner half of the cap and not directly in line with the middle.
