New for 2022 are the AS-V hockey gloves, a step up in the Tacks line of protectives from CCM. This glove comes equipped with many elite features found in CCM’s top gear, including D3O foam, a Pro FlexThumb, a Kevlar-reinforced palm, and a FlexMotion cuff to give you elite coverage. With its Anatomical Shield Design, the new Tacks AS-V is modeled to fit close to your hand while still offering amazing comfort and movement.

External Material
The Anatomical Shield Design is a major asset that the AS-V gloves bring to the table. The glove overall is made to form around your hand with some additional space for greater comfort and mobility. CCM utilized a variety of materials on the exterior to maximize coverage, flexibility, durability, and comfort. CCM opted for tough nylon and Nash material as the main materials used over the outside of the glove.

Finger Design & Protection
The Tacks AS-V gloves are equipped with premium high-density foam and PE inserts inside the fingers. The fingertips are reinforced with smooth, durable Nash material for extra protection. With this finger construction, you can perform to your full potential from the moment you step onto the ice. To further enhance the glove’s movement capabilities, the index finger has been built with a three-piece design.

Backhand Protection
The backhand uses a Vent-Tech base for primary coverage and excellent ventilation around your hand while you play. Over the backhand is an integrated Impact Protection plate reinforced with D3O foam. D3O is great at absorbing force on impact, making this additional protection plate ideal for blocking shots and engaging in board battles.

Thumb Design
The Pro FlexThumb on the AS-V is built for, as the name implies, superior flexibility. The two-piece design wraps around your thumb with some wiggle room, allowing you to comfortably and firmly grip your stick.

Although the two-piece FlexThumb is unavailable in size 10”, the thumb on this glove still offers superior protection and flex.

Cuff Design
The cuff is sectioned into multiple parts: a FlexMotion Segmented open cuff and a Sublimated Liner inside cuff. The FlexMotion cuff is a five-piece, open anatomical cuff on the outside that has been shortened for a greater range of motion while stickhandling without sacrificing protection. The Sublimated Liner inside cuff functions as part of the liner and has a soft cushioning texture. Its antimicrobial properties will keep you feeling dry and fresh all game long.

Palm Material & Gussets
CCM opted for a Polygiene Odor Crunch-treated Dura-Palm with sublimated AX Suede on their Tacks AS-V glove. To further enhance durability and protection, they also added a Kevlar reinforcement along the palm where your stick will sit. This padding is smooth and tough, ensuring that that area lasts longer and survives even the most rigorous of play and schedules.

Liner
CCM included Polygiene Odor Crunch-treated liners and comfort foams to keep your hands comfortable and feeling fresh for longer. Polygiene has been used in a lot of high-end protective gear and has incredible antibacterial properties. CCM included Odor Crunch to enhance the effects of the liner.

Sizes & Colors
To change up the style a bit for 2022, CCM opted for a darker gold in their Tacks line rather than the classic yellow. The Tacks AS-V Junior hockey gloves come in 10”, 11”, and 12” sizes, and the following colourways: Black/Gold, Black/Orange, Black/Red/White, Black/White, Navy/Gold, Navy/Red/White, Navy/White, Red/White, Royal/Red/White, and Royal/White.

CCM Hockey Gloves Sizing Chart

CCM Hockey Gloves Sizing Chart

Player Glove Sizing

To ensure you're purchasing the proper sized glove, one simple measurement using a measuring tape is all it takes to accurately find your size. Place the tip of the tape measure at the top of your middle finger (or which finger is longest) and measure all the way down to the bottom of your palm. Record this measurement and multiply by two. This will be roughly the size of glove you need. Compare your height, weight and age to the charts provided on each model as well to find your best fit.

Sizing Hockey Gloves (Growing Players)
If you are including growing room in the glove for a young player, always round the measurement up to the next whole number (ex. 3.2” x 2 = 6.4” -> 7”).

Making Sure Your Hockey Gloves Fit (Growing Players)
To ensure hockey gloves fit properly for a growing hockey player, have them place their hands in the glove with their palms facing up. Have the player place their hand inside the glove as they would if they were wearing the glove in a normal situation. Take your index finger and put it between the top of the player's palm and the edge of the cuff. Typically you want no more room than the width of your index finger.

You also want to have the player press their fingers against the palm so you can see the outlines. Make sure their pinky finger is at least 3/4” of the way into the pinky slot of the glove finger. To determine if the glove is too small, take your fingers and feel along the inner cuff of the glove just after the palm material. Make sure the player’s palm is not spilling over the material and onto the cuff. You also want to look at the fingers of the glove, and make sure the player’s fingers to fit in each finger slot, but they should not be pressed up against the edge or touching the gussets.

Sizing Hockey Gloves (Full-Grown Players)
When sizing for true size (no growth room) using the above measurement, round measurements less than 0.5 down to the next whole number. If the measurement ends in .5 or higher, round up to the nearest whole number.

Making Sure Your Hockey Gloves Fit (Full-Grown Players)
To ensure your hockey gloves fit properly, you want to take a look at two things.

  • 1 – make sure the your fingers are all the way in the finger slots, but not pressing into the gussets on the end of the glove. A good fitting glove will leave your fingers so that they are just able to brush the tips of the gussets.
  • 2 – make sure the palm of your hand is not spilling out the end of the glove palm material onto the inner cuff. If the bottom of your hand is into the cuff of the glove, you may want to try sizing up for a more comfortable fit.
