New for 2021, CCM brings in the CCM Tacks 9550 SR Hockey Shoulder Pads targeting the recreational player. The key features to look out for in this shoulder pad are the molded (PE) polyethylene caps, PE foam base, floating sternum, and PE inserted spine. For the recreational players playing roughly 1-2 times a week, these shoulder pads are the perfect match.
Shoulder Caps & Protection
CCM constructed these shoulder pads to be single-layer with polyethylene foam inside. By doing this it allows the shoulder pad to be reliable, functional, and protect you with a light feel to them. The shoulder caps are also full coverage, consisting of molded polyethylene to safeguard you from impacts and falls.
Sternum Protection
The anatomical floating molded polyethylene sternum offers a high level of protection, and keeps you feeling light.
Spine Protection
Polyethylene is also found along the spine for added protection.
Bicep Protection
These shoulder pads also offer a great buffer between you and the hit with their molded polyethylene caps over the bicep regions.
Abdominal Protection Piece
At this price point level, this shoulder does not feature a removable abdominal protection piece.
Sizes
The CCM Tacks 9550 Senior Hockey Shoulder Pad comes in the sizes Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large.

Hockey Shoulder Pads Sizing Information
Sizing before Purchase
To fit for a properly sized shoulder pad, you will need a soft tape measurer to measure and record your chest measurement. To do this, find the widest point of your chest (usually just below your armpits) and measure the circumference. Record the measurement in inches and compare to the available sizing charts in each brand. Also compare your height, weight and age to find your best fit.
Sizing after Purchase
Once you have received your new shoulder pad, stand in front of a mirror and strap them on. You will want to check the follow criteria to ensure a proper and protective fit.
1. The tips of your shoulder are sitting directly under the middle of the shoulder cap. If you are checking sizing for a child, it is ok for the tips of their shoulder to be under the inner half of the cap.
- This is important because if the shoulder cap does not sit in the correct position, your clavicles, shoulders, and upper arms can become more susceptible to injury.
- Adjust the bicep guards using the Velcro straps located underneath the shoulder caps (if applicable). At the highest point, the bicep guards should not be more than halfway down the upper arm. This is important because they can interfere with your elbow pads, throwing off the fit.
If you are checking sizing for a child, it is ok for the tips of their shoulder to be under the inner half of the cap and not directly in line with the middle.
